Has anybody here ever been to Japan?
I enjoy huddling under my bed at night and streaming quirky little Asian dramas.
Seems to me that at the moment a prevalent subject in Japan at the moment is bullying, specifically in high/middle school.

I've been reading a lot of articles recently, schoolgirls hanging themselves, beatings, stabbings, arson, general cruelty.
Something the majority of these cases share in common is the teachers and headmasters all shirking the blame from the schools to outside sources; even when it's blatantly obvious that it's them that are to blame.

Can anybody explain to me why it is Japanese students are such psychos? Why is it that a vast majority of them are so cruel? Has it anything to do with the pressures of education over there?

Looks like you've not been here before. Two quick tips; threads in /jp/ can last three to four days with only five replies - there's no need to bump. Second tip; plenty of people will sage your thread but that's just the general practice, don't take it as an insult.

This article is more about bullying in the workplace but discusses how bullying is really seemingly part of the culture which helps it manifest.

yeah, you've "noticed" all that stuff because "bullying" is a completely new 21st century occurence. also, it's exclusive to japan. faggot.

No, it's true.
I don't come here much because I've always been under the illusion that it's subject was about Japan and it's geek culture, but anything that isn't about anime or some eroge game get's ignored or reported :l

Thanks for the link, I'll read it now.

The thing that disgusts me is the lack of anybody willing to take responsibility. That it's so easy to get away it, it sets a horrible example for the rest of the nation.

No..
I do enjoy my Asian dramas but it's something I've been looking into for a while.
The amount of articles and written text documenting this in overwhelming. That and I don't believe it is only exclusive to Japan, but it does seem to be occurring at an alarming rate in a country that is supposed to be considered highly civilized and high tech; for them to behave like cavemen?

Still, guess I cab't blame you for wanting to defend your mighty Nippon...

Okay, OP here.
I'm going to try and believe that at least a single person on this board can answer me rationally and calmly.

I want to know why it is exactly that people are becoming so angry at this post.

Now don't take this as insulting, but I have visited this board a few times before and seen the exact same thing happen to many others posters. By this I mean, anything that gets posted that isn't about anime or eroge gets slaughtered and it comes across as the users getting pissed at anything slightly related towards the defamation of Japan.

Now this may not be the case, but most folks here aren't exactly helping me in my enlightenment.

So seriously, educate me in this boards ethics and manner of posting?

Please sage if your post doesn't regard the original post. I don't want to see this thread on the front page just because a bunch of people are making a huge deal about some girl. I'm ashamed that you guys couldn't just ignore that statement whether it was serious or not.

By the way, OP, threads like this pop up all the time but the threads end up basically making fun of the OP for learning about bullying in Japan through its media such as anime, manga, or J-drama which is honestly reasonably legitimate even if it can be (or often is) exaggerated as it's only natural for something that exists in a culture to extend to its media. It might be a chore but try searching through easymodo for some old threads about bullying in Japan.

If you really want to attempt a serious discussion, which seemed to be your main aim, don't then refer to your post about being a girl which would only help deter the conversation even more.

I do understand the concerns for player safety but I agree it's a big mess Goodell is making. They make new rules right after the season begins, they don't explain them well to the players, and they don't enforce them with anything resembling consistency.

It's nice to see that one person can answer me intelligently (I still don't understand why everybody here gets so angry at these types of posts?).

I've never really browsed easymodo before which is something I'll have to go check up on in a sec after I finish reading that article that another Anon kindly linked me to earlier.

Dropping the "G" word wasn't a good idea I'm aware, but in my frustration at the lack of... communication I thought it'd be fun to rile a few folks up.
