It looks like the linked thread apparently belongs on /jp/ instead. So let's try it here!

To celebrate the announcement of Touhou 13: Ten Desires (where unkempt hair Youmu is a PC), I'd like to present to you all a Touhou tabletop RPG system, Tale of Phantasmal Land! It's an independently made system, different from (and hopefully much more playable than) Flowers.

http://wgs.no-ip.org/trpg.pdf

Tale of Phantasmal Land is an exclusively d6-based, story-focused RPG system. It's 182 pages long, but 43 of those are setting material. This RPG allows you to play as humans and youkai in the fantasy realm of Gensokyo, engage in wacky adventures ("incidents") therein, engage in spell card duels, and sit down for tea afterwards. Enjoy!

Unfortunately, it doesn't contain any youkai species or notable profiles from Subterranean Animism or Undefined Fantastic Object. So if you're a fan of the crew of the Palace of the Earth Spirits or the Palanquin Ship who wants to play a psychic satori or a shapeshifting nue, you'll have to wait until a distant update.

If you know how to use IRC and want to discuss the game, come to the #Touhous channel on irc.thisisnotatrueending.com on ports 6667 or 9999.

Not interested.

Original character, for TOUHOU?

Helllll no.

Why not?

This isn't /jp/ related, as much as your angry fellow fa/tg/uys would try to convince you otherwise. Sorry.

>> No.7032176

>>7032125
It's technically related in the sense that if /jp/ wanted to talk about it, the moderation team wouldn't delete it, but it's not related in the sense that nobody here cards.

>> No.7032182

You know, I enjoy the idea, but the thing about tabletop RPG's is that they require social interaction.
Social interaction is not something that /jp/ is capable of.

>> No.7032186

This thread is both /tg/ and /jp/ related. You faggots need to stop whining and post in threads you like. Leave the others alone

Are you talking to us, or to /tg/? Most people here are politely informing you that you will get no viable discussion about the system here.

>> No.7032200

>>7032191

probably not, but it doesn't make it non-/jp/

This looks like an insane ammount of fun, but I have never played a tabletop game before in my life.
Browsing over the table of contents it looks very well done. How does one play a game like this? Over IRC, in a similar game style as zork? I have a lot of questions, I hope the pdf can answer them.

/tg/ is for your RP.

>> No.7032265

Extraordinarily grumpy /jp/ers around this time around.
Last time a Touhou RPG was discussed the discussion was rather lively, and people seemed quite happy.

>> No.7032302

I thought /tg/ already dissected this.

Typically you'd need a person who creates a rough plot/story for the game (a Storyteller) and then some other people called Players. The Players run the main characters in the world while the Storyteller runs everyone else. There are some rules to cover whether or not someone got shot, or how much damage the person took when he fell, but it's mostly a lot of people talking and rolling dice. As hobbies go, it's pretty cheap.

/jp/ has been getting progressively shittier this year

No, it's just the people that browse it become more and more elitist with each passing year because they think they are vets.

Mods on /tg/ will delete on topic posts about D&D if the image posted with it is even remotely touhou. Its not welcome there at all, yet leaves inflation horse fetish shit up for a week. He's a bit strange. Either way /jp/ is the shitcatcher for touhou anyway, always has been and always will be. Deal with it.

>>7032302
They did, and while still better than Yuugi Flowers, its not great.

It can be done over IRC, a program such as Maptools (or other similar programs), together in an actual room (this requires friends), or over something like skype/ventrilo/mumble (requires talking).
I've DMed a few normal D&D and Pathfinder games, one of Mutant Future.
I anonymously ran a game of Maid RPG in a /tg/ thread around a year ago. Thought about running that here but I know everybody would have a shitfit because no fun allowed.

Basically when you run only in IRC you forgo a bit of the combat mechanics such as spacing and position for simplicity, and just rely on good descriptions of the action. If you have maptools you can actually use the full combat mechanics (if there is one, things like Maid RPG dont really matter on that). Voice chat is just all kinds of awkward and seems to discourage roleplaying because everybody hates their own voice.

>Either way /jp/ is the shitcatcher for touhou anyway, always has been and always will be.
Technically, /jp/ was the shitcatcher for all the things in /a/ moot didn't like, not for other boards.
That said, I like /tg/, and I like Touhou, and while I do not do any table top game for reasons that >>7032377 said, I'm fine with this thread.

This is not /v/. Stop that.

>This is not /v/. Stop that.
Apologies, its just that as >>7032371 pointed out. I feel like I have to remind them.

But yeah if theres enough expressed interest in a game, the #touhous channel has created a couple of homebrew systems we're still playtesting. If your internet is disconnecting like ever 10 seconds I could see -anything- being difficult, but you don't have to have a great connection to use IRC. Also don't really -have- to make an original content do not steal touhou, but it can be fun. I even made a moth touhou for if someone else ever ran a game in it.

>> No.7032683

lol /tg/.
/v/-esque board for D&D, it is such a shame as it was the best board for a long time. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if people whined about monstergirls there.
