Judgment is not the same as Justice. If anything, judging in black and white forgoes a certain measure of justice, as many situations tend to be blurred in grey morality, and picking one squashes the just argument of the alternative side.

For example, a poor loving onii-chan might be desperate and steal a bun for her starving imouto who is about to die of hunger, with intent to repay it one day when he can. A verdict may be necessary, but simply deeming him "completely innocent" or "guilty criminal"
cannot justify everything in situation.

Similarly, as shown in Touhou Pocket Wars EVO +, Byakuren's efforts can also been seen in two lights. On one hand, she brings peace and ideals, but on the other hands, her support of violent youkai can lead to deaths of humans that would not have occurred otherwise. Nonetheless, what isn't arguable is that the present Byakuren Hijiri is kind and wishes for peace among the denizens of Gensokyo.

You seem to be confusing the buddhist concepts that Eiki-sama is based upon with legal concepts.

Eiki-sama's ability is essentially the ability to judge justly. Eiki-sama's verdicts always take into account the individual and are not just black and white. I'm surprised and a little disappointed that you don't know know this since you post so often.

To the contrary, her profile ability is explicitly "to see things in black and white". While the Yama of lore may be thought to represent justice, such a thing has not been established for Gensokyo's Eiki incarnation. However, while that is her ability, she personally is nice enough to try hard to lecture to people to get them to change their ways, even though nobody pays attention to her.

Black and white doesn't necessarily mean "letter of the law", does it? It just means a decision is possible under any circumstances.
