You know in a sword fight you're not suppose to parry an incoming blow with the edge of your sword. Edge on edge clash will pretty much always damage both sword's edge unless one was much much harder than the other. And since all swords are made from steel the difference isn't significant enough for either sword to escape damage.

No. There is no background to back this gif up, we don't know the quality of the supposed katana and the supposed broadsword. It only proves that the sword they have their is weaker than the other sword (in brute power alone, it is probably superior in form, poise and speed), but there is no indication of what the swords are. Your filename tries to claim these two things are your average katana and broadsword, but I doubt that.
