I have just read SaBND and I must say I am perplexed.

I see the heroines having a jolly good time everyday (mostly) with carefree attitudes that wouldn't exactly match those when they're in a fight. Are they such friends with everything like this because incidents are the ones who turn them into meanies? I was guessing some sort of disturbing-the-peace-rage for Reimu yet she's so...relaxed in here.

Marisa is a good girl even during incidents.
>I was guessing some sort of disturbing-the-peace-rage for Reimu
Pretty much

You should know this.

Reimu gets all bitchy and savage whenever her tea-time is interrupted, but otherwise she's pretty relaxed and carefree during peaceful times.

Of course that doesn't stop the fairies from wanting to troll her.

I'm more perplexed with Alice, her friendly attitude in here made me change completely my view of her.

What about the part where she messed with Reimu's ritual just to bother her?

The shrine maiden is untouchable in the field of honor by the vast majority of Gensokyo's residents, so they'll just have to settle for trolling her.

The manga make it clear that they're friends and sometimes friends like to mess with each other.

That's quite clear actually, however, it's also clear that she's still not quite the prime example of a ''good girl''.

Pretty much. She just gets grumpy when she has to stop another idiot from causing a huge ruckus.

Everyday Reimu: Nice, laid-back and genreally friendly to anyone.
Incident Mode Reimu: "The Damnaku WILL continue until the situation improves!" Given her intuition, this actually works.

I don't know what you're talking about. There's no incident mode Reimu and regular Reimu. There's only one.

So, these fairies are like Tenshi and just want to get Reimu's attention by making a worthy incident? Except from what I can see they know their power is not enough-

I always saw them as little prankster kids that would go on small adventures with Reimu being the annoyed neighbor. Reminds me a bit of my own childhood.

Well yeah, the later chapter reveals that's actually their intention and just want Reimu to notice them, they only manage to make an ''incident'' to the level of bothering Cirno however (hence Fairy Wars).

Speaking about it, this page brought quite the smile on my face.

Their powers seem to be enough, actually, just that they're too much geared towards being stealthy gits and their offense is greatly lacking. The amount of control Sunny shows over her power for example is pretty impressive. I even have an incident plan ready just in case I drop into Gensokyo as a little fairy girl.

1. Have Star find some large moving objects around the Earth's orbit. Asteroids are okay but too far, debris orbiting around Earth like defunct satellites are better.
2. Calculate its orbital data and how it must be moved to strike where we want it to hit.
3. Have Sunny refract light onto it. Since she can do this repeatedly and without restraint (provided her range reaches that far), we have a solar sail at this point, except we don't need the sail part because Sunny is providing the push.
4. Repeat until it hits Earth orbit, have multiple objects aimed at pre-designated points ready so that they strike in tandem.
4. Have Luna erase the sonicboom, if any.
5. Small, remote guided stealth meteors, targeted near Hakurei Shrine, Moriya Shrine, Forest of Magic. Main characters are curious, go to investigate.
6. Main characters rampage around as usual, eventually find the fairies.
7. Reveal we've been behind the incident and that there are large meteors heading towards the aforementioned three locations (This is a lie to prompt the heroines into a fight)
8. Spellcard fight, get beaten up.
9. Final spell, Grand Impact "K-T Extinction"
10. Get beaten up again
11. Tea party

Since I read SaBND, I've been having dreams about being a carefree, childish fairy and spending my time with other fairies. Truly this must be a glimpse of Heaven.

She wasn't very friendly when she decided she was going to attack a group of innocent fairies she lured into her home with the promise of shelter.

I feel the same way. I don't know why, but I feel old and I'm not even old. To explore the forest and discover new things like they did, it seems nice. Reading about their adventures really cheered me up for some reason, if only for a bit.

>> No.6952526

>>6952427
Did you actually read those two chapters? The fairies start saying that they're youkais thinking that otherwise they'd be eviscerated by Alice, she takes them in and after Sunny stupidly starts talking about ''we heard about this one specific youkai who manipulates dolls living in the forest and we came looking for it''. She took that as a threat and was about to attack them UNTIL Reimu's truth birds came in and the 3 revealed that they were fairies, to which she became friends with afterwards.

>> No.6952547

>>6952386
Half of those steps are waaaay over what they can actually do, it's not like their abilities have infinite range and capabilities, and even if Star had such range, they couldn't be able to do something like predict and control meteors, not like they even know them or know where they are, you are thinking way off-board. Remember that the spellcard rules indicate that one's mentioned abilites aren't as hax as they might sound.

>I don't know why, but I feel old and I'm not even old. To explore the forest and discover new things like they did, it seems nice.

Well, if /jp/ users found themselves in Gensokyo as fairies, they'd probably have similar adventures. After all, it's a foreign realm that doesn't follow our logic, and a degree of wanderlust seems inherent to fairies. With no internet and no reason to be a shut-in, we'd probably end up like the three fairies, following rumors we hear with childish curiosity and enjoying simple pleasures like eating together with our fellow fairies in a house we personally crafted after a day of flying around and getting ourselves into trouble. We wouldn't have any worries, nor would we need to think about the future; after all we'd be effectively immortal and in bodies /jp/ considers ideal.

That's the sort of life I want to live.

>>6952547
Their powers are fueled by light, I reckon they would be stronger in outer space where sunlight, starlight and moonlight are brighter. They just need to aim really well, and Sunny demonstrated in SaBND that she's pretty good at that.

>> No.6952698

>>6952679

I think even with internet access Gensokyo would be an interesting enough place to want to explore often. But that may just be me.

Reimu's attitude is always there. But when she's not engaged in beating people up she has opportunities to find joy in other things (food, booze, money, faith) which might make her seem more pleasant.

>> No.6953142

>>6952759
Now now, no need to get your personal interpretations into canon.

>faith, money
Nope, she already gave up on that a long time ago, all of her shrine maiden-ly things that she does in SaBND and elsewhere are now for the sake of her job.

>> No.6955542

Some one should make copy pasta how Reimu is insane and she is just made to look like perfect eastern Asian Japanese waifu of ZUN. She is Mary Sue of Touhou. She can't lose to anyone because she is main character of games. She has plot shield that she can't die or be killed. She can easily beat everyone, even gods. When ZUN couldn't make her more oriental he made her Miko drinking Japanese tea all day long.

>Mary Sue

Haha, no. Mary Sues are people who's plans always go well and they always have a ''coolface'' on their face, i.e: Yukari.

And, Reimu's one of the characters that has been beaten (canonically) the most, second only to Marisa.
