I like her, but I'd like there to see more new characters, and more characters becoming playable. If it's a Phantasmagoria or IN style game then she'd be fine, though.

Sanae must be playable. I can never go back to Reimu or Marisa after UFO.

Touhou 13 will have Magician!Marisa as the primary antagonist, it's pretty obvious.

13 is the "Western" superstitious number, and Marisa follows the "Western stereotypes", such as being a witch.

Hints have been dropped that she's planning on becoming a Magician in the past, and unlike Reimu, she works hard rather than lazily relying on natural talent. Even in spite of that, she was forced to use 75% of her power to narrowly defeat a mere fairy. It's obvious that she's fallen far behind in power levels.

ZUN is putting off Touhou 13 for another year to release Touhou 12.9. You play as Sanae gathering youkai faith. Everyone you defeat becomes a support option in the next level.

If zun's art was any good fanart would be less varied because people would have a proper model to base their pictures off of. Likewise if the games had a coherent story it would be more difficult to have alternate fanfiction interpretations where EoSD is silly slice-of-life or grimdark depending on who wrote it.

the only ones would be the ones introduced through the fighting games, which would be suika and the 2 from SWR who's names I can't remember. There's definitely much less variation in all of their art, and suika is almost a shapeshifter, so any variation in her is explainable as being able to change her density.
