Well, it's the abbrevated version.

If I recall right, the whole theory is that Meiling is a sort of ghost created from the clashes between imperial China and nomads. Sort of like the KamS interpretation of Parsee being created from a curse.

Both in canon and in fanon she's portrayed as being a really friendly and caring individual that's willing to sacrifice herself for the good of others and that's one of the most important things I like in people. Basic human friendliness. When it comes to looks she's just gorgeous. Before being introduced to Meiling my favorite girl had short black hair and now I prefer long red haired ones.

Sometimes it feels quite wrong to fap to Meiling. It's probably because I like her so much and that would be somehow disrespectful even if she's not real ;__; . My Meiling fumo fumo once accidentally fell down from my PC case and bounced right into a rather dusty corner of the room. I was rather devastated thinking that she would get dirty and it made me feel really really bad. I gave her a proper delicate dusting off and cleaning and made sure she's well sited so she won't drop down again. I think most fanon stories of Meiling hit the spot with how's she's really supposed to be (even the ones showing she's rather clumsy or even a bit dumb, even so I find that to be a part of her irresistible charm), although I think some of them are missing the prideful part of her personality.

Of course there are, but Meiling is my ideal. The page I posted is about Meiling's other canon job as SDM's gardener. A side that's rarely shown fan works as Youmu is the more popular gardener character. Suffice to say this book is adorable.

So, umm, the point. Parsee is described as a bridge princess, so it's THE natural and obvious interpretation of her origin. Meiling is described as a generic (chinese-looking) youkai, so we know nothing about her origin and everything people do is just making things up. Those cases are not the same.

I like how she's the only Touhou with her own personal nemesis.
Unless we count Nitori's faceless friend.

Obviously not. Considering one is a fan theory linking a SHMUP character to Genghiz Khan and the other is a fairly well recognised legend, thought it obvious the comparison was only for the method of creation suggested. Not for historical validity.

Personally prefer the simplest explanation - that she's "just" an unspecified Chinese demon redhead. There is enough mythical weight to go with that anyway.
