i wouldn't mail order it, just buy in person. it's only like 30 bucks.
they had a similar figure but much smaller one with the books/coffee table and i think a little koakuma too at reitaisai last year for 3000 but didn't buy that either..

so, any places that sell touhou stuff for cheap but decent or better quality?

I was about to buy that dealextreme set, but thank god i checked back and saw the quality

>> No.6891135

>>6891116
Buying from Japan is the safest bet for quality. Buying from china will result in crap quality (they will even post pics of the original but send you one that looks like someone took a crap on it while painting). Buying from countries like the US is hit or miss since there are a lot of fakes but also quite a few originals. The choice is yours.

>> No.6891141

>>6891044
You have a choice between buying cheap disposable crap that still has a small chance of lasting a while, or buying expensive shit made next door that *may* be marginally higher quality... if you're lucky. DX has useful reviews and free shipping, at least.

At any rate, are these >>6890931 feasible to touch up/repaint? At $1/piece, I'm tempted to experiment with a few...

>> No.6891158

Are there any people taking Toranoana orders?

And why did Toranoana close overseas shipping in the first place? They have a lot of good stuff.

The second set has nothing to do with the first set, those are all really crappy knockoffs. The second set's authentic versions are designed by mota. I have the real Yuka one (not even shown there) and it's very nice quality.

Normaly I would suggest yes but the only problem might be the finish on it. I supose you could remove the old paint (idk?) or give it a light sanding because the surface looks like crap, almost like sandpaper.

You can get the Touhou figma and nendoroids. The Nendoroid Petit sets are a pretty cheap way to get a nice little variety, but of course they are petits and hence are tiny and don't do much.

Sure figma and nendos are smaller and don't look as good as scale figurines... but they are cheaper, and are vastly more entertaining for their items/pose-able nature. Or at least, that is, they -were- cheaper if you got them when they came out.. if you missed out on the earlier ones, it's tough luck, because they're Japan exclusive limited runs, and hence fetch retarded prices on Ebay. By the way don't buy those cheap Nendoroid Reimus on Ebay, they're bootlegs. Although then again if you really are a goddamn cheapskate and wouldn't mind a shitty bootleg version, well that's something to keep in mind because they are much much cheaper than the real thing.

You can still get figma Sakuya dirt cheap at Otacute though ($32), albeit, she's not nearly as good as figma Reimu or Marisa. I'm also just going to call it now and say figma Aya's way better, and figma Suika looks to be perhaps the best one yet which makes Sakuya the worst Touhou figma ... but whatever, at least it's a little something to get.

Also Otacute is by far one of the best ways to get your hands on preorders for upcoming Touhou nendoroids and figma. Not only are they one of the only places that takes preorders for them, but they also are cheaper than most other places (usually by a longshot).

Well originally, her preorder price there was like.. what, $29 or something like that (or was it $35.. can't remember anymore), but, then the dollar-yen exchange rate plunged from the recession, and suddenly at that price Otacute would be eating up basically all of its profit off of those Sakuyas (if not actually losing money off them), so they raised the price for her to $39 right like maybe a week before she released, and apparently a crap ton of people got pissed from that, and just didn't buy her, so now they've got a bunch of extra Sakuyas lying around.

That and, as was said, she turned out to not be a very exciting figma and so apparently she's not a very hot item.

I've got one (I've got all the Touhou figma actually) and she's alright by my book; people just aren't creative enough posing her imo. One thing for example, you can actually stick four knives in one of her hands instead of three like in the pictures, and she also looks pretty cool posed mid air doing a time-stop pose (also lacking in the pictures). I guess they didn't know how to market her and hence included a stupid mop and some silly stickers, instead of more knives/action stuff.

She was $30 and actually they raised her price to $40 right before they shipped them out--last minute. It was my first time dealing with Otacute since I was attracted by the price.

I agree that Figma Sakuya wasn't exactly a stellar release but I like her as well. I wish they included a tea set like Figutto did.
