Is it weird that I didn't like Tsukihime at all?

It has lots of cool characters and ideas but there's not a lot of "action." Not action like fights and explosions necessarily, but the storyline doesn't really seem to go anywhere. Characters like Chaos and Roa are both killed right after they're introduced. Am I missing something? I played through the first three scenarios, should I keep going?

>> No.6871700

No, it's shit.

>> No.6871701

Why continue something you're not enjoying? You don't have to force yourself just so you can hang in our powerlevel threads.

>> No.6871705

It's okay to not like it, anon. Jeez.

>Should I keep going

Fucking stupid.

Eh, it just didn't leave any real impact on me. Wasn't particularly attached to any of the characters. It's worth going on for Kohaku though. That shit was crasy.

>>6871696
it's psychological as opposed to fate's action packed

far side > near side
and Akiha's route is the best

>>6871701

Maybe he's doing it so he can complain about how bad he thinks it is. Typical /jp/-er.

>> No.6871721

It's not that good as people say it to be. Most do that because it was their first VN so their experience was probably really good.

It has good and bad points. In my honest opinion I got tired of it quite a few times and didn't bothered about doing Hisui or Kohaku routes.

>> No.6871724

The story's genre can be considered Horror and Suspense. In such stories, the antagonists ideally make very few appearances, only showing up when things go really badly.

I understand it was psychological but I really don't understand the point of introducing characters that are supposed to be central to the plot if they're going to die right after they show up.

then you'll enjoy the far side routes a lot more

and multiple fights and showdowns à la fate really wouldn't work in tsukihime

or you'll enjoy them a lot less if you go into them expecting fights and hot blooded action

It's not that I want fights as much as I felt like the plot didn't really progress a lot. There was too much emphasis on revealing the origins of the characters and what they did in the past as opposed to actually showing the characters doing stuff.

ok yeah, you're kinda boned then
sorry bout that

That's pretty much what Tsukihime is about.

It's much more of a character focused work

>> No.6871770

>>6871759
No prob, bro.

I liked Fate a lot because even though the characters weren't on average as varied or interesting as the ones in Tsukihime each path has a totally unique, different plot that progresses pretty smoothly and you get to learn about the characters and their origins as the story goes on.

The only two characters that are really central to the overall plot are Kohaku, Akiha and sometimes SHIKI. Everyone else is pretty unimportant.

That being said, this only becomes evident after you've finished the far side routes.

You'd be dead by Hisui route, man. If I recall, Shiki spends most of it lying in bed trying to not go insane, and then her two endings are both pretty depressing.

>> No.6871864

I didn't really like it that much either, but stuck around to finish all the routes anyway. I wouldn't recommend doing that at all, the routes are so similar that if you're already tired after playing 3 of them, you'll just get more bored when playing the rest.

>> No.6873041

I think Tsuki-Hime was pretty good. Though this might be because I haven't read that many vns. Novel's setting and characters were interesting, I especially liked Akiha and Kohaku (even though Akiha true ending made me rage in that regard). There were some bit boring things like lying in bed for several chapters but otherwise it keeped going with pretty good pace to the end with most routes.

It's a decent VN, with good characters, some cool idea and shitty writing and music (however, this last point can be resolved if you make your own ost. Higurashi and Umineko musics fit pretty well)

Also, don't judge it from near side, far side are superior in term of ideas and characters.

I like the music, maybe because I nostalgia'd.

but that ending was terrible. it just makes you feel like you have to go read kohaku's route immediately to figure out what's going on. I liked hisui but her route was the worst by far.

Some of Tskukihime's best moments involve him lying in a bed.
