I actually used to use 4watch and even recommended it on /jp/ back when the adverspam and AT bots were at their worst. But now that we have captcha I don't think it's worth using anymore.

I remember the auto-thread-hiding feature being pretty good at first, but eventually hiding more and more shit that shouldn't have been flagged. I was going through some stuff I had downloaded a while ago and came across Vague In Winter 3 from zts. The entire CD isn't that fantastic with most of the songs being either a hit or miss in my opinion, but a few really stand out like Snug Snap ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cK-QfaTcvRA ).

Any idea if there's more stuff like this available? I really like some of the stuff this guy has done, and I'd be open to a few recommendations for similar music.

If something is actually illegal (CP), then take action, but I'm generally not a fan of deletion when people can just as easily learn to ignore threads they don't like.

I've thought of adding something like that. But yeah, it does kill one of the main points of using it.

The problem there is that only a small fraction of posts get flagged more than once. We'd need a lot more users for something like that to be effective.

I've tried to deal with the problem by adding hide-for-me-only and bad-but-not-rule-breaking report categories, but there will always be people who won't use these.

What we require is a simple set of rules and policies that are publicly stated and we can all agree on. That way it won't be such a problem for the passing janitors and mods to deal with the little problems we have, instead of needing to get someone so heavily invested in the board that will eventually start cleaning for quality and threads that although off-topic, really harm no one.

We must not magnify our problems, we need to establish a clear communication channel with the moderation so they know what is needed to keep us right in baseline quality.

Honestly, besides the spam problems we have, it's just complaining about what belongs here or not and complaints about the quality not being up to some personal thresholds. Just ignore what doesn't interest you, contribute to what does, and keep the board alive.

Janitor and mods can only take away, not give back. It's up to us to provide good quality threads. Deserve the special treatment we get.

Colombia did an okay job as /jp/'s meido, so I don't really expect huge changes around here. But /d/ really needs this, I think.
