What's not to like? They make decent games and port some titles that are pretty good.

Just stay away from the fanbase.

I love the Sekaiju no MeiQ games, so yes. Don't really care much for their other ones.

As for ATLUS USA, they're probably the most reliable localization company at the moment (although NISA seems to have rebounded and my opinion of Xseed has only gotten better). A shame that they prefer to dub stuff instead of provide dual audio.

I only own a few Atlus games, and they're all quite old. I haven't followed their catalog in years, but not because I dislike them. I just don't want to buy games I won't play for years; I have too many games as it is.

I agree with the comments about Atlus fans though; they remind me of con-going anime fans. Worst fucking people on Earth with no tact or class.

>>6855105

You had to go and remind me that it says "Otaku Culure" didn't you? Could you just ignore that part? Everyone would be much more happy that way.

>> No.6855158

Atlus the game creator? Yes, I like the company.

Atlus USA, the publisher? It varies. If it's a high-profile game like Persona, it does a good job, but I find that a lot of its other releases are handled pretty poorly. The localization team for a lot of games seems to be given free reign to outright make things up and throw in pop culture and Internet references for fun. TokyoPop also does that with some of its stuff, and I can't stand it.

I bought the Super Robot Wars games since I love the series and wanted to support its release over here, and, thankfully, the company did a good job with them. I just wish it gave fair treatment to all of the games it puts out.

The game is no different than say Im@s or Princess Maker.
I never got why the whole Ar Tonelico thing grew to be such a fuss, it's as if hundereds of people judged the game while knowing nothing about it.

Trust me, if it was created by an obscure company, and localized by an obscure group, be it fan or official, none of /jp/ would ever had questioned it being /jp/ even if the game would have been identical to how it is now.

>> No.6855203

Maybe /jp/ should expand? How about they add "manga that isn't shitty?". It would be nice to have discussions on Vinland saga or Shamo here in /jp/. Just to get the fuck out of shitty /a/ forever ya know?

If you didn't know that off-topic threads that have content are welcome here (if they're not created way too frequently), that means you obviously don't belong in this board.

As for ATLUS, I'm okay with them, for the same reasons that have been said a lot of times in this thread.

>> No.6855274

>>6855217
Being allowed off- topic threads now seems to be more of the whim of the Mods who may choose to randomly delete a recent thread because it's off topic. BTW, you have to be pretty hardcore manga otaku to have read Vinland saga or Shamo, and there is no place for them on shitty /a/ and no other board for manga on this site.

>> No.6855297

>>6855200
Don't jump to conclusions. I played AT2, and enjoyed it, although I didn't find it exceptional. I was supportive of the occasional AT3 thread in the past, before a few people started forcing at least one AT thread up at all times.

But unfortunately, in the real world the games were not produced by a doujin circle, they were officially localized and published in NA, they are judged as JRPGs in the West, and from what I saw in the past, AT threads did attract /v/ posters.

No, I remember countlessthreads that weren't about Touhou or VNs working in the past, with either none or very few people complaining that they weren't related to /jp/. Nowadays, they're full of people trying too hard to fit in.
