If you're judging by the present content, you need to remember much of the content that's absent from /jp/ right now is not absent because it's been deleted. It's absent because badposters drove it away during the time /jp/ lacked proper moderation.

Image boards always fail because there are too many of them and they're all quite niche and mainly cover just one board/subject. If you combined the userbase for all of the various *chans into one site, I imagine it would be quite busy.

Internet doesn't break the chain of cause and effect, and 4chan is not some magical place where rudeness makes you friends. When you're obnoxious, people won't talk to you. When you're harassing them when they talk to each other, they either go somewhere else or call the security, which proceeds to throw you out. This is the point you'll never get. Anonymity means you can be honest when you think something sucks. It also means you can focus on the message and not on whoever says it.

It is not a place to act like an asshole for no reason. I know that this is what you think 4 chan is, because people told you 4chons is internet sinkhole where people are always angry and yelling at each other but stop taking jokes at face value.

The reason why all jp clones failed and warosu is shit is because you can't build a decent community around people like you. You can't build a community of people who act like you, who want the same things as you. Nothing good will come out of trying to appeal to people like you.

This is not the same thing as trying to build a huge hugbox, fucking learn the difference. Somebody has to build that sand castle before you stomp on it. I became a janitor (for a different board) when I was 16. The gist of my application was "I browse this board every day and sometimes I see spam there so I'd be happy to get rid of it" and I got hired not too long after that.

This was back in 2006 though. Maybe it's more serious now. But it probably isn't. 4chan has always been tied together with duct tape.
