That's one of the things I disliked about the ending of Umineko, it was never really explained how Kanon and his relationship with Jessica worked, or if there was any relationship at all, and if there wasn't it would be even more stupid for Yasu to explode the island just because she couldn't decide between Battler and Joji

Actually, it's the only way to make things make sense. Any other way you have Yasu be a cruel, mass murderer who wipes the Ushiromiyas without a good reason.

It was hammered in our heads that "without love, it canno't be seen". This is where you look at Yasu and her circunstances with love and you see something completely different.

The clues are there, there are tons of them. You choose to see Yasu as either a cold murderer or a victim of fate. The fake murder party theory fits perfectly with the theme of the story.

Fake murder explains: Gohda and Kumasawa's death in EP4, Yasu killing herself out of guilt when real murders start, 1st twilight of EP3, that looks staged and only features servants, Battler forgiving Yasu. Those are off the top of my head. They also fit Yasu's character as shown in Ep7. Also notice that Will says some accident would happen whether Battler comes back or not. Maybe Yasu wanted to pass the headship in some way anyway, but Battler's return gave her an idea to play on his love for murder mystery novels.
