Nice canards and rounded engines there China, from those alone the stealth level of the J-20 is guaranteed to be laughably weaker than other 5th gens. Not to mention the far cheaper production costs of the aircraft guarantee that there is not going to be nearly as much RFM used as there is on other 5th gens. Also China's planning to export these to other nations, basically they are trying to build something to compete with the F-35 on the global military market is what this thing's all about.

Also there was that russian analyst dude saying that the Chinese stole a lot of the systems and info from the Russians to make the prototypes, and that they can build technology demonstrators all they want but if they lack a true understanding of the systems at hand (which he basically asserted to be the case) then the switch to mass-production is going to be extremely difficult for the Chinese to accomplish. There's already other concerns about the budget for the plane as well. All in all yes it exists, and it's no surprise since the Chinese have been working on this since like the mid 90s, so unsurprisingly it'll enter service like 5+ years down the line because the F-22 got underway in the late 80s/mid 90s; that's just the way development works.

The master troll revelation in a few years is going to be that when the rest of the world catches up with 5th gen aircraft, the U.S will start testing its 6th gens (which are already on the drawing board such as the FA/XX and the replacement for the B-2, pic related).

I read up a bit about the J-20, seems like a nice idea. This plane will be stealthy but only from the front so when war start PLAAF will send them in as first wave and knock out the AWACs. Then opposing 5th generation fighters will have to turn on active radar and rendering their stealth design moot, so PLAAF can they engage them with superior number of 4th generation fighters.
