I, for one, welcome this new crop of moderators to our humble board.

You really shouldn't go around handing our bans so casually, however.

I've finally gotten my ass around to idling in the IRC, and I've seen a man ascend from a lowly peasant to the ranks of the Gods.

Sadly, he cares little for the affairs of this realm...

Meido, while certainly hard-working, approached it the wrong way.

What meido did wrong:
-Bringing attention to himself. You are probably thinking this isn't a problem for you, but moderating /jp/ is a thankless job and it will break anybody over time. Please do not create moderator praise threads and expect to be shown gratitude. You will quickly learn that you cannot please /jp/ no matter what you do. Either suck it up or be sensible and say "hey you know what, fuck this, it's not worth it," like most of the previous staff.
-Inconsistency. Simply put, he followed the community-made rules instead of the official 4chan rules. It is very frustrating to see your PC98 thread deleted while there is porn or World of Tanks on the front page. This is what drove quite a few of the spammers to shit up /jp/.
-Taking things too seriously. This is a problem with the whole board. I don't mean /b/ threads are OK. But everyone needs to lighten up a little bit.
-Auto-deletion scripts, of course these were quickly forbidden by moot

For example, he made a script autodeleting any post with the word "Saten" in it.

The problem is that if moot wanted janitors to be able to do this, he would just give them the privilege to ban. And while it's obviously moot's fault for not giving us anyone with banning privileges who browse this place regularly, there's no way a mere janitor can change how things are done. Moot will simply dispose of any janitor breaking the rules as soon as he finds out, even if it was moot's fault in the first place that the janitor found it appropriate to break the rules.

This is a difficult board to moderate. We have no rules at all, and nobody on staff knows about the board. So in hopes of making you guys happier, I tried to stick by the community policies. I went too far when I started dealing with the quality as well, that was my mistake.

Throughout the final few months of Meidolf's regime.

Good idea in theory, but legitimate posts were being deleted too (talking about Saten figures in figure threads, posts using the word "reportedly" were being deleted because it contains "reported" which was flagged, etc.). Not to mention all images that happened to be 1280x720, regardless of whether they were from anime or VNs.

In addition to deleting legit posts, doing that only encourages spammers to shit up the board more to find workarounds. So you get people taking about Saten in binary or hex or "morse fucking code." You can't stop spam unless you range ban, and even then there are people that switch ISPs. I know it must have been frustrating to meido that moot wouldn't do anything but using scripts is going too far.

I wish we could make a compromise and maybe have one single thread dedicated to anime, but there's no way that would fly.

Not allowing loli threads = Get ready to quit your job.

It won't be pretty.

Well, it's not like it made any difference. From the moment the mod deletes a Sion thread, he will have to deal with spam 24h per day and will probably quit even before the rest of /jp/ starts to think the mod is a normalfag retard.

No one is able to moderate /jp/ for more than a few months, even with the mod powers. The /jp/ hivemind is simply too much for someone who has to deal with the other shit from all the other boards too.

He will probably just stick to deleting the reported illegal content.

And about your point, I know all the tripfag spammers can be banned, but I refuse to believe they don't have a way to circumvent it, seeing as we had to deal with their spam for so long. It's not possible /jp/ is so forgotten as to the spammers having never received a ban. (And I don't think it is, seeing the name change, mod posts, stickies, etc)

And yes, I know Currybutt had been banned long ago, but the Railgun/Persona/Ika spammers kept posting.
