6784058 No.6784058 [Reply] [Original]

I've started re-reading EP1 as of some days ago, and I currently got to the First Twilight. It seems clear to me that this episode is the best of them all. I think that magic and witches and killer-bunnies gave this vn a unique approach, but with magic messing everything and-what-not the real murder mystery blurred more than necessary.

Anyway, getting back, I've read all 7 translated EP's so far, and there was a set of winks or foreshadowings I managed to catch this time around, p.e.:

- When the adults question Maria about the umbrella, there's a part where Shannon enters the dinning room and Maria neatly says "Beatrice" as if she was refering to the person that just arrived.

- Shannon seems to accept George's ring based more in the order that he gives her, than in a desire to correspond his feelings.

Etc.

Anyway, EP1 thread. Anyone agree this is the best of them all? I lost my enthusiasm 10% with each following episode.

It had awful pacing and just all around bad writing you can tell R07 wasn't sure where he was taking the series when he was writing it.

I liked EP1 the best. It was interesting with good build-up and suspense. I was genuinely scared when I first read it and didn't know what the series was about.

>> No.6784182

EP3, EP4 and EP5 are better.

>> No.6784185

To me is seems very obvious that Eva and Hideyoshi are in on something, whether it's a fake murder mystery or whatnot. First there's Hideyoshi very obviously faking for Shannon's corpse, then right after everyone goes back to the mansion, Eva approaches Battler and starts making him think about who could be behind this and why.

>> No.6784187

I don't care what anyone says, damn it. This story will have a happy ending.

>> No.6784220

How about the part where Eva says it could have been Shannon in a dress? Or the part where Kanon is the only one who obviously fakes his death and Beatrice is still free killing people at the end?

"second worst?"

Besides ep 2, it was one of my last hopes that Umineko would be mainly focused on horror. The creepy piano music during the rain and Tea Party was great. So were the murders and everyone getting paranoid.

Anyone wanna see Genji's backstory and why he's such a loyal, emotionless robot? It's fucking ridiculous, up to the point where he dies and does all this crazy shit due to loyalty to the "head."

Genji is probably more loyal to Yasu as the head than anything. He's like another father him/her. Also, the crazy stuff he does was fictional anyway. We don't know how complicit he would be in reality.

OP, I don't like to get angry about trivial things, but if anyone tried to tell me that an episode other than 1 was the best of the series, I would argue the fuck out of them.

I can't wait to reread the question arcs, now that I've read 7.

>> No.6784427

EP1 was the best episode. We knew nothing of the soon to be trainwreck that is Umineko, and we were roped into what we thought was an endearing murder mystery, with what promised to be a battle against an evil witch at the end.

And somehow, we ended with EP8, oh how the mighty have fallen.

>> No.6784467

I can't help but think 8 episodes of basically episode 1 done in a different order wouldn't be any good. Not that the way the series went is good, but I don't think that would be good either.

>> No.6784468

>>6784427
But episode 8 was good.

Just because you didn't like the ending doesn't make the entire episode not good.

>> No.6784479

I thought it was the worst episode, honestly. It just felt like nothing at all was going on for a good deal of it. It was mostly just repetitive and redundant dialogue until the second twilight. THEN it started to get interesting.

>> No.6784491

>>6784468
But the ending was like the best part of episode 8. That isn't saying much, what was the need for SEA OF STUPID GOATS WITH STUPID NO LOVE THEORIES EATING THE ISLAND AND THEN BOARDING META PIRATE SHIPS TO INVADE THE META GOLDEN LAND WHILE ANGE AND BATTLER SNEAK INTO BERN'S BASE AND FIGHT HER?

It has no substance.

Im confused on one thing, was the point of eva- trice, just to show just what would happen if eva found the gold instead of everybody at once? and all those battles were really eva trice just going around killing people? my mind is alittle foggy but was yasu in the hidden room with the gold when eva got there? if she already got the gold and won, why was she killing everbody? I forgot alot i guess..
