Mangaka is Eita Mizuno (水野英多), she did the illustration for Spiral: Suiri no Kizuna. But I'm not sure if it counts much as a reference for her art style... Comparing with OP, it looks like her style took a huge change.

Well he sold Higurashi at $40 a game, which had somewhere between 300,000 and 500,000 in doujin sales. So up to 20 million dollars from the doujin sales, not counting the anime, manga, ps2 game and other merchandising which we don't have any numbers for.

But you have to consider that he has to split that money with dai, kagami, BT and whatever other contributing artists the episode has. He also probably personally put a lot of money into the fighting game.

I'm not sure if that includes the PS2 game or not, though. That sold a little under 200k by itself, so the doujin games are atleast 300k.

To be entirely fair, it does make an interesting method of telling a story.

Also, Umineko has, been more linear in it's story telling, unlike Higurashi there's an obvious overarcing plot even with the resets.

Call me a heretic, but IMO the Umineko manga is the best version of Umineko. It has most of the advantages of bot the anime and the VN without the disadvantages of either. The only thing it's missing is the excellent soundtrack, and you can fix that by just playing it on the background while you read.

The VAs were good, I'll give it that. Miki Itou as Eva is especially quite hot. But the anime has everything else working against it - bad pacing, DEEN quality, etc.

However I will still watch the second season because I'm a sucker for punishment and a damn fool. And if they include this drunk Bernkastel scene at the wedding in ep6 I'll be happy enough. She is adorable.

but i dont hate anime that much anyways. It brought me to the whole When They Cry franchise in the first place. of course its rather poor adaptation, it has definitely too little episodes and i was pissed on the lack of a lot of scenes and on the execution of anothers, but i still want CHIRU badly, because i WANT to hear lots and lots of Tamura Yukari's non loli voice and replaying KAI all over again is starting to not be enough
