So, let me get this right:

- Rudolf and Kyrie are awful people whose only motive in killing everyone was opportunistic greed.
- Every other character's backstory is mostly irrelevant, as they play no part in the murders and ultimately have no resolution.
- Ange and Eva are the only "survivors," but they still grow up to despise each other.
- Battler's body survives, but his personality is "dead" and he spends the rest of his life as a delusional amnesiac.
- There's no secret ending.

Is that the gist of it?

>> No.6736592

>- Rudolf and Kyrie are awful people whose only motive in killing everyone was opportunistic greed.

Kyrie yes, Rudolf only went along because he couldn't see any other way out. Also he wanted to save Battler, at least.

>- Every other character's backstory is mostly irrelevant, as they play no part in the murders and ultimately have no resolution.

Everyone is irrelevant. The mystery is irrelevant.

>- Ange and Eva are the only "survivors," but they still grow up to despise each other.

Eva wanted to love Ange, but she's a little girl who didn't understand what happened, so she blamed Eva and hated her.

>- Battler's body survives, but his personality is "dead" and he spends the rest of his life as a delusional amnesiac.

Until the end when he finds the golden land.

>> No.6736593

Pretty much.
I mean, most of the character development was just Battler trying to make sense of what happened. It may coincidentally be true of some characters, but most of them are probably different.
Also, Rudolf killed because it was too easy not to, and Kyrie has always had something against the family, and wanted to get rich.

>> No.6736629

ALRIGHT GUYS, TIME FOR SOMETHING FUUUUN

Now that we know it's all a delusional illusion, let's play WHAT REPRESENTS BATTLER'S PSYCHE!

I think Natsuhi and Eva's constant anger and conflict represent the Eros and Thanatos. Natsuhi is constantly driven by her love for Krauss and Kinzo, Eva is similar but harbors deep, highly destructive impulses (Eva-Beatrice)

So the point wasn't figuring out Yasu's heart, then? Okay, so now we're back to 7 different stories with no conflict resolution, very little development, a protagonist (meta-battler) who becomes less relevant as you read further into the stories, and in the end it was all a bunch of dreams anyway? In essence, the plot is then that "some events happened on an island, how they happened isn't important" and we're supposed to reach that conclusion after reading through the first 7 episodes, right?

It was entertaining, to say the least, but still confusing.

I think the ending is open towards interpretation.

In the end, if you can look at the series with 'love', then yes--everyone lives happily every after, and Battler and Beatrice live in the Golden Land together.

If you look at it from a loveless prospective, then you get an ending where everyone just died horrible deaths and there was no happy ending for anyone.

What was that saying again?

Without love, the truth cannot be seen.

Anyway, I find it funny that people are disregarding the Meta World characters (which they seem to love) in favor of "real world" Battler, who is really just a fucking new character at the end. I don't know him, I don't give a shit about him and his amnesia.

It goes both ways, I'm disregarding him and embracing the Meta World.

In fact, this ties in with what he was always pushing in the story. Love and fantasy. Embellishments and beauty that don't really exist except in our wishes. By providing a completely mundane ending, this is his last ditch attempt to make his readers realize how beautiful things are even if they're not real.

Because seriously, who gives a shit about the real world by this point? Ryukishi's been trying his damnedest to hide everything and make people care about the characters in a supposed "mystery".

So yeah, I can understand why he did this, and as for me, he succeeded with it.

The answer and the truth wasn't really important.

At least, that was the agenda he was pushing near the end. Problem is he stated that this was a mystery, when he was trying to push for fantasy. I'm sure he has some retarded reason for doing it this way, but it backfired on him badly.

Fuck the real world in Umineko. It never really mattered. Everyone is happy in the Golden Land.

Ange is upset at first because Battler didn't come and meet her. Toya/Battler says he didn't want to meet Ange because he was terrified of his old memories coming back, because it felt like it was another person invading his head that he didn't know. He doesn't think of himself as "Battler" anymore, he's settled as "Toya". Ange remembers the red truth spoken by the witches about "Battler has died" and realizes this is what it means, but she's grateful because even though Toya isn't Battler, he's her older brother who came back to her.

But the real world was practically the entirety of Episode 1, the introductory work of his series and what is supposed to set the tone, plot, and pacing of the works to follow. It would be like reading all 3 routes of F/SN, and then having a 4th route that says the previous 3 routes are all works of fiction, here's what really happened: and it turns out Shirou was just trying to write a story while balancing school and friends, magic isn't real, and servants don't exist. This "real" ending that renders the previous routes false and pointless also goes against what was established in the introduction, as well as completely changing the plot and throwing all character development out the window.

That's a lot of bullshit you made there.
-Lambdadelta was powned by Featherine, because she acted as a decoy for Battler and Ange. They needed someone to distract Bernkastel so the remaining 2 can dissolve the seal that Bern has put on Ange's key (which unlock Eva's diary).
Initially, Battler wanted to act as the decoy, but Ange didn't agree. Lambda suggests to determine it with janken, but much to their surprise, Lambda joined them and deliberately lose.
You got an insane battle between Lambda and Bern, but Featherine shows up.
Lambda pretends she just had business and Bern, out of friendship and respect for Lambda, tagged along. However, Featherine invited her to follow her to join her party (which would ruin the whole idea to stall Bern and Featherine for the key seal). So Lambda says screw this shit and revealed her intention.
Problem? Featherine is a frigging impossible boss, the likes that you can only beat with cheat code.

As for Bern, she never turned back into a cat. She was simply defeated.

wait so Featherine Augustus Aurora really IS the final boss? so will every single fucking thing be explianed if they defeat her? maybe that is wat ep8 is going to be about. I got one question though, wasn't Featherine Augustus Aurora really the real writer for everything? maybe shes really write battlers story on a god level plain and everybody has to band together to defeat her. I think it time guys to give up on the msytery part of this visual novel. it was all a big ruse from r07, he always ended his storys with something magical or fantasy, in the end of huragashi, bern helped takano get back to her time. im telling you guys r07 is planning something big that involves both his works.

Bern was first dominating Battler, but her support from Featherine got completely owned by... Endless Nine.
Battler didn't care about Featherine's cat legions because of EN.

However, after a lengthy battle, Bern managed to kill him. Things go extremely gloomy as Erika reports that the Golden Land (and so its denizens) have been obliterated.
Nail of the coffin? Declaration in red.

I didn't get exactly the fine details here, but Ange was like "screw this shit" after a DESPAIR mode, and simply didn't accept Bern's red. Battler revives, much to Bern's complete bewildering surprise, and even Beato and EVERY pieces show up.

Then Ange WTFpown Bern with a super ray of doom, made of golden truth.

i think it is possible to solve previous episodes with the info we have gathered so far

for example, the siestas (chiesters) are the four winchesters.
Siesta 556 is the damaged rifle, the one that exploded on natsuhi's face during ep1
Siesta 00 is the rifle that shoots low, the eyepatch simbolizes that.

also, character's backstories are not competely important but each one (except for hideyoshi) helped to create the rokkenjima incident

>> No.6737072

"Suppose you are reading a detective story with an intriguing situation. A corpse (let us say) is found strangled, sitting in a chair by a window, and wearing a domino mask; and all the clocks in the house are found with their faces turned to the wall. You are carefully warned that the blazing clue to the truth is the fact that there is a teaspoon in the victim's pocket, and that, without all these things being just as they were, the crime could never have taken place. ... Now, suppose at the denoument the identity of the killer was revealed -- for the simple reason that his fingerprints matched those on the collar of the strangled man. Would you feel cheated? That's exactly what might happen in life; but would you feel cheated? You know drat well you would. ... He admits the crime. Then he shoots himself. Consequently, you never know the significance of the mask or the reversed clocks, or what deduction you should have drawn from the teaspoon. Page 315, 'The End'. What would you do? You would strangle the author, lynch the publisher, and shoot the bookseller."

This is why people hate the ending. But I could see why Ryukishi made it this way. He really wanted to push his whole "fantasy is good" theme to the fucking limit. Major props to him having the balls to go through with it.

Although she is definitely on boss category, she isn't really a character to vainquish.
Actually, after Bern's defeat, she was alright to let Ange and everyone else leaving, and agreed to leave the cat box sealed (probably the whole deal with Ange satisfied her).

Beato's cat box is itself the pandora box, so there isn't really any side to defeat (not even Bern in fact, since she was just trying to make it burst open).

Ikuko found Battler on the road, close to the shore, as he was nearly dying (both state that if she didn't find him, he would be pretty much dead).

As Battler wakes up, they realize that he doesn't remember shit, except his age (got a brain injury, according to a doctor). This is why they decided he will be called Hachijou touya, which is a pun with 18.

Ikuko realizes that Touya has a very keen eye for written tales etc, and wonder if he couldn't give her a hand for her hobby.
After a while, Touya makes the stuff regarding Rokkenjima while Ikuko is responsible for the writing (he pretty much gives her the idea and setup).

Considering battler's state, Ikuko shows up as "Hachijou Touya" when they have to make a public appearance.

I cant remember every bit of it but its something around those lines:
The beloved hometown was Taiwan like a lot of moonpeople guessed years ago, there is a river that translates as Freshwater that leads to a town called Freshwater, sweetfish usually live in fresh water so it was a good hint. A taiwan railroad map (it was a railroad instead of literally a river) leads to a town called Kirigan. Some kanji wordplay comes into play and kirigan can be read with two "mouth" and one "tell" kanjis thus the "the two will tell you of" part of the epitaph.

Also for the first twilight sacrifice the six letters, and "Kirigan" can be romanized as "Qilian" so Qilian is the key, more kanji wordplay comes into play for "quadrillion". The rest of the sacrifices is playing with the letters in Qilian and Quadrilion at the chapel and sacrificing the letters until only "l o r d u" (lord ushiromiya, from praise my name" twilight) are left, this opens a secret door to the gold room

Causes the murder by exposing the gold and bomb through her "love trial". Kills self to try to attone, ends up making batteler atone instead. Pitiful creature who should never have been birthed. Sad, really.

So Battler and Ange did meet at least? I wonder what Sen-ka would say about this.

>> No.6737778

>>6737180

Seems to be a plot summary of sorts. My bad attempt:

Blah blah blah, Umineko EP8 spoilers, arigatou.

The past is revealed. A younger Ange meets Kyrie (she becomes one of the people on Rokkenjima in this iteration), Kyrie goes on murderous rampage. Battler is brought in as an unwilling accomplice. His parents die (Rosa is mentioned but I don't understand the circumstances in particular). Eva manages to survive. Battler and 'Yasu' both escape from the island. Yasu drowns themselves in guilt. Battler tries to drown himself as well.

Battler was saved by that author person, suffers from amnesia. Together they write eight novels under a pen name.

Umineko is a story of creation. What really happened is up to your imagination, and should be left as-is.
The magic end will continue to live on into the future for Ange. (meta-Ange apparently shows up and finds older Battler)
Because he failed to commit suicide, Battler is picked up by the author (I can never remember her name) and they're living together.
It all ends as a variety of delusions.

The only Rokkenjima survivors are all authors(?), the rest were killed.
It's obviously all a delusion, but they all live happily in the Golden Land.
Episode 8 is just meant to tell you who the real villain is. EP7 gave plenty of hints (?).
Also, Kyrie and Rudolph get into a fight over Battler's nature as their son. (I'm guessing it's why Kyrie didn't kill him outright; Rudolph either told the truth or lied to save him.)

Yeah, the Meta World is as ambiguous as ever. Knowing Battler wrote the Hachijo tales doesn't really change anything from before. I think you can believe in it if you want - you have things like Ange remembering what happened when meeting Battler, and her sudden turnaround in reality from utterly suicidal to happy, content, and determined to live is really hard to make sense of unless you take her meta experience into account to some degree.

The entire presentation of Toya/Battler is to emphasize that he's not "Battler" (read: our meta-Battler) anymore, but meta-Battler is able to seperate/reunite with Beatrice through him in the end.

Yup Will explained almost everything in ep 1-4, and what he left unadressed you can easily explain

All you need to know is that basically at the beginning every death is faked due to "working for yasu" "bribed by yasu" "not actually existing as a person", in episode 3 Eva probably accidentally killed Rosa/Maria and was confronted by Kyrie/Rudolf in the mansion, and in ep 4 Kyrie went stabby stabby thus Yasu being actually dead inside Natsuhi's room

But really:

Toya/Battler completely separates himself from being "Battler", even after regaining his memories. He frames it as "I carry Ushiromiya Battler's memories", and talks about how it was terrifying because he is not Battler and it felt like having the memories of another person were going to kill him/erase his own existence as Toya.

So the last scene where he sees the portrait of Beatrice in Fukuin is by implication "Battler" finally leaving Toya altogether and going back to where he belongs with Beatrice.

>George without love

Aren't you forgetting the chance he might have swiped battlers letter to shannon and hence contributed to Yasu's continual breakdown? His partial confession about being jealous sounded like there was alot more to it.

Right, this is people believing spoilers without context all over again. I swear that people will actually believe that "It was all a dream" just like people thought that it Deen's "brain parasites" were real.

I don't know what's worse.

The fact that the pasta is so depressing, or that it actually makes total fucking sense.

I must admit, though, if Umineko never existed, we would probably never have little gems like this:

WTC5 will deal with all fiction actually existing in another universe, and the actual definition of imagination is just a psychic link to different kakeras, therefore validating the previous series.

Battler's "old" sprite looks just like normal Battler except he's wearing a black suit, a white collared shirt, and has short white hair.

Why are people still going apeshit for things they do not understand at all?

-First and foremost, there is no submarine escape whatsoever. There were only 2 survivors: Eva and Battler.
Battler survived as he was in the underground towards the submarine dock. There was a boat there.

-There is no "imaginary friend" stuff. The portion with Toya and Ange didn't deny the metaworld at all.
In fact, it nearly confirmed it when you got that last scene with Toya.
