Yep.

So far Index is pretty sweet, except this major hole I've found. Episode 3 next.

I've never been a fan of choosing to read something that has a visual/animated counterpart.

It's like if you read Star Wars and never saw the movies you'd just be a gigantic faggot, where if you saw the movies you could write your own books and wouldn't need to read the book version. Same with Lord of the Rings, etc.

So no, I don't feel bad for watching anime and disregarding black and white comic book bullshit.

Picture also related.

Sure you aren't affected by the fanbase that has grown from the anime, and the anime itself, and things stemming from /a/, and the spam?

Personally I read, with much trouble, the first volume when it was new, although, I guess it was more akin to someone reading it to me as I needed help with every off sentence or so.
In either case, I found it to be great, perhaps not the best thing ever or anything like that, but great nonetheless.

I have been trying to keep up the divide between the novels and everything else ever since the adaptations started.

That has little to do with it.

Different media has different strengths and weaknesses, and in either case they do different things.
And no, no media is "better" than the other, but in the process of making Media A into Media B, some degree of quality lost in the conversion, same thing when converting Media B into Media A.
It is just like translations you know, of regular language.
If you take a written work, and then translate it through all the written languages of today and back, chances are you won't even recognize it.

You cannot possibly argue that animation with audio is definately better than a written original no matter how bad the quality loss?

If one was to take a book, and ruin the entire story on purpose, and then make a movie out of it, then you wouldn't be able to say that it is better, would you?
Now, people don't try to ruin stories when they adapt them to a medium other than the original one, in fact they try hard for to not ruin it at all.

But no matter them trying, quality loss is still as a general rule present in the conversion from one medium to another.

I remember when the first season started to air. The series seemed to be a pretty bad shounen crap fest with a terrible plot and illogical mc which forced me to stop watching the series after episode 4. Haven't looked backed at it but judging from all the screencaps that are spamed throughout 4chan they must have changed the premise of the show into a fanservice galore. Doesn't even mean that they completely lost it but turned the tides into their favor.

>> No.6698600

Nah, it always had a fan service subplot. Actually the anime isnt half as bad as the original is. It all stems from the illustrator for the LN, he is a porn artist. One of the best ever.

Just how could you reach that conclusion from reading this thread?

The discussion was always about originals and adaptations, and how it affects the quality.
It is the same with any media.

As said, no medium is "better" than another, they only do different things. Apples and oranges etc.
Movies adapted into books tend to be worse as well.
