FSN is shit.

You have to understand that while /jp/ is probably one of the better boards if only by default, it's still full of elitists and trolls who will tell you shit sux almost no matter what. I disagree, but obviously that just means I'm an underaged shounenfag with no taste. Just play it for yourself and make up your own mind. Or try something with strategy elements like Underwater Ray Romano, maybe that'll scratch your /tg/ itch better.

What makes Tsukihime better than FSN is the atsmosphere, you can feel the danger , the drama, the mindfuck.The music does a better job to add to the atmosphere than FSN.The characters interactions are so superior to the character interactions of FSN that it hurts,and the slice of life segments and Shirou's Pov are fucking annoying.FSN plot is too forced at times, some times they lead to plot holes,weak plot or unexplainable developments.Tsukihime's plot flows better, it's simple and credible..
Tsukihime's plot is also more mature, each resolution have more weight to them 1) Arc and Shiki didn't end up in good terms in Ciel's True End, 2) After every single of the Far Side of the Moon routes, Arc and Ciel will keep hunting Roa, 3) Akiha ends up as a doll in one ending, 4) Akiha and Kohaku die in another end, 5) Hisui's Good End wasn't precisely happy. In F/sn, only 2 characters couldn't be saved: 1) Ilya in UBW, 2) Saber and Ilya in HF.
Shirou never actually shows his resolve when it comes to deal with people who are prepared to kill,and the story does not have serious and mature Masters - aside from Zōken-and the only time Shirou had to confront one of his friends, was in HF against Black Saber. Shiki, on the other hand, had to fight Arc, Ciel, Akiha, and Satsuki at some point - there's also the point when he realises all what Kohaku has been doing.
FSN is just too light and aimed at teenagers. That why the dark and cold as ice Tsukihime is superior.

Fate/Stay Night is just about the only part of the series that's available right now, and I wouldn't recommend playing it because of Saber or Gilgamesh. I do recommend playing it for Lancer though.

What makes fettuccine alfredo better than spaghetti is the sause, you can taste the Parmesan , the butter, the chicken, or the cream in the bowl. Don't expect too much with Utawa Ray Romano though. While the tactics game part is fun, it's a bit broken. The story is plain and the H-scenes really feel tacked-on. I almost like the anime more (in b4 flames).

But I can't believe that no-one suggested BMW yet to a /tg/-ist interested in FSN. Pic related.

I don't believe in suggesting such things without already being familiar with the source material. Original Generation would be better until after he's played F/SN and such.

If you're getting into it for the character design, don't expect much. After all, you will endure the same cycle of sprites for hours, with few CG interspersed.

Storywise, it's quite enjoyable, if you're willing to get past the "arthur is a girl" plot hole.
Best suggestion is that you give it a try. If by Rider's fight you're not sold, then give it up.

Essentially a novel with pictures. Also, voice acting for the non-ero parts if you patch it from the PS2 files (this applies to both F/SN and Utawarerumono). I do warn, however, that of the 3 routes for F/SN, only the first 2 are completely translated, and Uta doesn't have routes. Both games I rather liked. Also, for the record, I also am quite fond of Tsukihime.

Saber and Gilgamesh are only really good in 1 of the 2 translated routes.

UBW is more focused on Shirou and Archer.

I could say it could go either way. on one hand the whole 'grail war' concept would probably tickle your fancy. but on another hand you may get tired of the generic anime-themed traditions and overdone concepts. Then again if you're fine with that then all the more power to you.

The F/Z book (F/SN's prequel) would probably entertain you a hell of a lot more, but most of it is untranslated.

If you're gonna play Utawarerumono, I seriously suggest starting on hard mode 1, if not 2 if you're experienced with strategy games.

I was like 2/3 through the game on normal before any of my characters died once, I didn't even know if it mattered like in FE.

It is fun though. It may not be deep or complex, but it is really fun, and that's all that matters.

If you're just downloading the iso, then yes. google mirrormoon and download the newest F/SN patch from them. Then follow the instructions and presto.

Oh and also, you can download the iso of Realta nua (a ps2 port of F/SN) and use the installer to patch voices to your game. It's not required, but it adds a bit more emotion to the scenes.
