Oddly enough, it covers a lot of anime and manga stuff as well, like figurines. Also, there are VNs, dolls, pig disgusting idols, masturbation enhancing devices, and this Two Hoe thing people seem to like. VNs by themselves are worth coming here for me, but there's something for everyone...

Also there are the not VN games that /v/ fears, so we end up discussing a lot of shooters and smaller scale jrpgs. Kind of like how /tg/ discussed nerd games such as Dwarf Fortress and Madden NFL 2010.

/d/ has nice people because it's a porn board. All the porn boards are quite civil. There aren't really any opinions or off-topic because everybody wants porn or is willing to share porn.

With the increase in dickgirls, there's been some backlash. It's uncharacteristic of /d/ because we are all considered fucked up by normal people's standards, so there's no point in us judging each other.

It's more a problem of the western art becoming increasingly common, even if /d/ always has some. I've also noticed an increase in lifestyle discussions, which used to be much rarer.

Also, while a person's failure to capitalize a sentence does not necessarily mean they're any less intelligent, one can usually judge a board's quality by how prevalent it is. A quick glance at the threads there says something went very wrong recently.

There's weird schisms even within that relative unity. Vore fans each drawing their own 'squick' lines, TF having conflict over whether animal TF is furry or just trans, futa fans divided on whether certain parts of the additional genitalia should be included, blurring between size/BBW/inflation/BE that makes each feel encroached upon. /jp/ is for what was not deemed to be /a/ enough at the time of the split.
This includes for starters, Doujin works (Music, Games, Software, Manga, Books, etc), Eroge/Galge, VNs and things like figurines etc.
But also some other interests such as Idols, or Arcade Fighters.

In turn this also pretty much means that technically, none of these things goes into /a/. In the past when it was the worst, you could even be banned from /a/ for posting these things there.
Nowadays however all of this is forgotten and they post all of the things as if it has always been a part of /a/, and frankly, as long as it keeps them out of here, they might as well do so, I wouldn't care.

Creative juices work in weird ways, and part of art is displaying a facet of yourself for the world to see, however revealing it may feel in comparison to the actual exposure. If part of your process involves writing about your sister or posting photos of an onahole, so be it. It's like a graphical artist posting scans of rough sketches to see what other think about them, and how it feels to post them. So don't stop because some of it feels weird, keep doing it because some of it feels right.
