Holy Namusan... this is the most beautiful piece of hardware I ever had... the homebrew on the PSP is fucking awesome, and most of the emulators are almost flawless.

I've been having trouble finding a version of Rrootage that works on the slim. Noiz2sa isn't bad, and Neo Geo Shooting Heroes is good bullet-hell fun. There's also finalburn alpha, an emulator that can play a lot of cave shooters.

The new Tactics Ogre is awesome.

Monster Hunter is basically worth owning the PSP for. The series just gets better and better with each entry. If you can wrap your hands around the touch controls and your head around the complex mechanics, you'll love it forever.

Prinny: Can I really Be The Hero is a rather fun action platformer that manages to somewhat transcend the shallow "frustration" design philosophy that so many modern platformers embrace.

Holy Invasion of Privacy, Badman! is a fun concept for a strategy game with a lot of odd nuances about creating a cave system that will grow monsters to protect your evil lord from heroes. It's got a nice style and a surprising amount of depth, but it can get a little annoying since failure to create the proper dungeon usually means you can't do a damn thing when zero hour strikes. Still very worth it.

Half-Minute Hero is a funny parody of JRPGs that condenses the genre's annoying tropes into a collection of fast-paced action games. Though the game isn't very deep, the memorable aesthetics make for a really captivating experience the first time through.

ZHP is a piss easy, unbalanced, and casualized roguelike, but it has funny Nippon-Icchi dialog, clever character designs and themes, and bonus dungeons that shamelessly namedrop decent anime. Because of these features, a modicum of entertainment can still be culled from its sparse frame - just don't expect Shiren the Wanderer.

Project Diva is valuable as Miku fanservice and it's a tolerable music game. No regrets.

I recommend you hack your PSP, one of the greatest features of the handheld is its excellent emulation capabilities, which far outrank that of the DS. Especially notable are its ability to emulate PSX and GBA games.

Got a PSP-Go from my elderly mother. She was so proud of herself. I couldn't bring myself to return it for an actual PSP. What does /jp/ play thats on the PSN store?

I have a few games, Valkyrie profile, Ace combat and Fate unlimited codes. All I ever really play is project diva and pic related

I don't particularly like the Toradora anime, but this is still quite nice

Valkyria Chronicles is fun but features cheesy villains and plot. The amount of quests you must do per month and allies' personal quests are HUGE, with more optional quests. Certificate system makes upgrading characters random. If you don't mind grind, it's fine.

Difficulty is also so low, that you must underlevel/underequip if you really want to have fun.

Squadmate's story and character development is where the game shines.

cxmb is too slow compared to the default xmb. especially when using dynamic themes. It also has problems working in conjunction with the Game Categories plugin. This is especially unfortunate because without the game categories plugin, the list of games takes forever to scroll through with cxmb's slow speed.

I ended up ditching cxmb for game categories in the long run.

Get on that Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. There's a fan translation patch soon to come out, and there's already a menu/item translation. Fun to kick it up with 3 other bros and BURN IT UP and it's basically the bread and butter of the PSP.

Now if you're livin' the champagne life, play some Ys 7, Ys Oath in Felghana, and the upcoming Ys I and II Chronicles. All new, great versions of old PC-88 game series with killer music blaring as you bust through dungeons and kick some ass with Adol Christin.
