I don't think there's anything to the shirt, it's just a typical man-tailored white shirt.

The pants are off eBay. I'm currently sewing charms for them.

The suspenders are from Amazon, by Hot Topic. I feel dirty, seriously, fuck. They were cheap!

Looks pretty nicely made.

You know for all your hard work, you're just going to be mistaken for Inuyasha, right?

>> No.6622984

Another interesting thing to note is that making charms/bows *eats* fabric marker. Two full markers died just to make the head bow.

Why the hell does everyone hate hot topic so much?

As long as you're not an overweight 14 year old girl buying invader zim or twilight crap it should be just a store to you.

You do realize that you can make a makeshift flamethrower out of household stuff?

I hate Hot Topic because it attempts to homogenize punk rock and the so-called geek culture for the masses. These things are special to me. I don't like normalfags muscling in on my territory.

Believe it or not, Touhou has a decently large presence in American conventions. I'm pretty sure I saw more Touhous than Inu-Yasha characters.

>>6622991
People just like latching onto things they don't even care about to hate. Same for Twilight for that matter.

Note that for the bows and charms to be the right size, you have to make them differently.

For bows: http://godsavethequeenfashions.com/Bow_Making_101.html

I was lazy and did things a somewhat simpler way since I have absolutely no sewing skill or knowledge. I didn't try to hide the seams.

1. Cut a piece of fabric.
2. Fold back the edges of the fabric and sew them down to the back (hemming). Use white thread.
3. Cut a piece of heavy interfacing slightly smaller than the remaining fabric.
4. Sew a piece of heavy interfacing to the back. Make sure the soft side is up. Use white thread.
5. Draw the pattern on the fabric side. Use a bit of marker around the edges to make sure there's no white bits sticking out.
6. Iron it to harden the interfacing and set the marker.
7. Fold the result in half, interfacing-side on the inside (pattern on the outside). Sew the edges, this time with red thread.
8. Do a really long running stitch (up and down about 3 times) down the middle of the bow.
9. Cinch it, tighten it, tie it.
10. Make a small white thing to wrap around the middle. Doesn't really matter how you do it, I sort of hacked it.

Charms are easier: you can skip steps 6-10. Note you have to REVERSE step 4: the soft side should be DOWN, as you will be using an iron to adhere the charms to the pants.

I am probably retarded and there are better ways to do most of this.

Image to the left shows what was used to make the head bow, after step 5.

Gender isn't as important as not looking retarded. I'd rather see a guy doing it than a girl who weighs 250lbs.

>> No.6623137

>>6623113
It's hard to disagree with that, but the odds for guys to pull it off well are much lower. I acknowledge some exceptions like Mikael, but the percentage of horrible crossplay (m2f) is far higher than regular cosplay, the chances of that to suck are extremely high as it is. So I stand by my conviction: if you can't pull off looking like a cute girl, don't crossplay Touhou characters.

>> No.6623148

>>6623137
But what if he cosplayed a character that had already been genderswapped?

>> No.6623160

>>6623148
Like when a guy cosplays Kyonko? I don't see the point, but I don't think that makes it any easier. It also wouldn't be crossplay now, would it?

It's not cosplay (in a strict sense) if the character doesn't exist. That's just a character inspired costume. Or in other words, a dude wearing a girl's cosplay.
