Is /jp/ the most elitist board on 4chan with the highest requirements to be able to fit in?

Every self-respecting /jp/ user at least needs to have a solid background of animes watched to rant about how shitty the industry has become.

Then, at least a good list of well-known VNs should have been read. All touhou games are required to be played and finished on Normal at the very least.

Also, most users are fleeing from /a/ and the rest of the boards because 4chan has gone to shit in the last 3 years. Every /jp/ user should be able to explain how bad 4chan has become, and how far it is from the original intention of the site. And state that he has no idea why he is still visiting these boards.

Finally, general knowledge as to how an imageboard is supposed to be used. I think we and another slow moving boards are the only ones who actually understand how sage should be used.

Not even mentioning figurines or other general /jp/ stuff.

No. The main requirement to be a /jp/er is the ability to take it easy (don't get into retarded arguments or respond to trolls), chase out people who don't know what the fuck they're doing, and generally not act like a faggot. There are no arbitrary achievement criteria to be an acceptable /jp/er.

You don't really need to have a high VN powerlevel to fit in, you just need to pick some VNs you hate, and say "the VNs I play are so much better than those shitty VNs".

Nothing can be discussed without breaking down within a few posts into a meta-argument about whether or not it belongs on /jp/.

So yeah I actually have no idea why I'm here. I don't spam or purposefully shitpost, just make useless posts like this one inside useless threads like this one. Still have a lot of fun here though.

> Is /jp/ the most elitist board on 4chan with the highest requirements to be able to fit in?
I don't know, probably not. I'd call /prog/ reasonably elitist, but /prog/'s userbase is much smaller than /jp/'s and is easily overrun by spammers and /b/tards, which just leads to temporary deaths when we just ignore the board. That's the fate when there is no active meido. /jp/ can be a bit elitist, but that's because we try to maintain our identity (used to be old /a/ posters, some going back to very early /b/ (under 3-10mil)). I find /jp/ itself to be laid back and mostly fine, at least when there are no silly crossboard raids (unusually common lately). /jp/ itself arised because more generic non-anime/manga conversation (VN's, doujin games, including tohoes) was becoming unwelcome on /a/ with moderation deleting and censoring stuff left and right, which eventually lead to moot making this board and us enjoying our sanctuary without being disturbed too much. It was mostly that more hardcore part of /a/ that went on to join /jp/ exclusively after the split (at least, I haven't gone back to /a/ in years, except for rare visits).

> Every self-respecting /jp/ user at least needs to have a solid background of animes watched to rant about how shitty the industry has become.
We try not to talk about anime much on /jp/ as that's what /a/ is supposed to be for, but speaking from personal experience, I've been watching it for years and in large quantities, probably way exceeding that "anime expert's" lists by far. I don't really talk much about anime, except with some friends on IRC.

> Then, at least a good list of well-known VNs should have been read. All touhou games are required to be played and finished on Normal at the very least.
If you're going to participate in VN discussion, it would be wise to have played at least most of the translated stuff, and if you know japanese, the rest of the classics, however there's nothing wrong with just playing the latest and newest, like some people do. Being completly clueless is looked down upon as it's easy to search the archive or vndb. Similar requirements apply to touhou or other games you want to discuss - you should know the source material, if you want to discuss. I wouldn't say being a touhou fan is much of a requirement here, but I would be surprised if I found many people who aren't.
> Also, most users are fleeing from /a/ and the rest of the boards because 4chan has gone to shit in the last 3 years. > Finally, general knowledge as to how an imageboard is supposed to be used. I think we and another slow moving boards are the only ones who actually understand how sage should be used.
People should be familiar with how their platforms work, stupidity should not be encouraged.
