Ok, so I practice on MBAC against max difficulty AI, against Shiki with max handicap and me at 50% (because of his faggy tactics commonly used by many people and the fact all of his moves seem to hold top priority over EVERYTHING IN THE GAME.) Anyways, getting to the point.

What the hell is the deal with Kouma's grapples? You can't grab people mid-trip fall, you can't grab them on recovery, you can't grab them in juggles...

Now I realize MB is a AERIAL COMBOAN GAEMZ and Kouma is probably not popular, hence not tweaked as much as other charas, but for a grappler, why does he fucking suck in comparison to so many other grappling charas in fighting game history?

(of course, this is coming from a guy who mained Shermie and Ralf in KoF, grapplers who actually have a reach further than a few pixels INSIDE their hit box)

And how do you successfully pull them off?


After seeing this, and knowing how Sacchin plays, I think French Bread/Ecole have no idea how to make successful grappling charas.

214A best used up close or your moving up to them. Another is when the recover towards you.
214B is slower yet has longer range. Best used when they're guard IMO.

214C has both range and speed.
Right before they attack or during a ground combo.

His Aerial is not great, his j.B has a weird hitbox.
j.623a/b/ ->623a/b/ id very useful, or even j.623c.

Im uh.....Actually pretty much the only faggot that still mains Tohno. Everyone else prefers Nanaya because of how flexible he is when it comes to block stringing.

Infact Tohno is REALLY low tier to Tourny people,to them,he is about the 3rd or 4th worst character in the game.

But still,I play him because no one else can fit how I want to play. Nanaya comes close,sure,because of his similar moves,but he doesnt give off that natural feel I get when playing Tohno.

Kouma is a very strong character, his command throws all have much longer range than normal throws and are very easy to bara into, giving a lot more flexibility for throw setups. And he has strong normals, which make people afraid to move and sit still blocking which means.. you can throw them.

For Nanaya's Blood Heat Drive, you must not touch his sprite at all.

OR (it's mostly about luck), if he touches you but you vanish from the screen when the slashes appear, you will be unaffected(if he touches you just before you do a teleport with nanaya or Warachia, there is a chance to dissapear from screen at the right moment).

Skiki's drives are much easier to dodge since they cover much less grounds.
If he doesn't catch you napping or counter you during an attack, a simple jump or backstep will probably be fine.

Same, I always see the nanaya players, but there's just something different about tohno that keeps me to him. I played akiha first, but she really didn't fit the bill. I watched nanaya_tripfag destroy me a couple times with nanaya, so I tried tohno. Instantly liked him so much more.

That doesn't seem to be quite right - if done at maximum range, both of Tohnos versions are blockable (and so is his charged-up C which is unblockable at closer ranges, for that matter).

Nanaya, on the other hand, has both poorer blockability - his regular Arc Drive is completely blockable at all points, and his charged-up C is blockable at all ranges - but he also has the only completely unblockable move between the two, his blood heat drive.

(I just tested this in practice mode to make sure, and all of the above still seems to apply.)

You just fucking realized that? Of course Melty Blood is a AIR COMBOAN game. Just look at all the combo lists. About 90% of the advanced combos are always a ground combo -> launcher -> air combo -> AIR THROW (THIS IS IMPORTANT).

BTW I use Warakia but i'm shit doing some upper and do the air combo.I tried the normal upper but Warakia's one is slow as shit, and the Akiha thing is sometimes hard to hit with it.
