From how I understand it, spectating works like this:

- First spectator connects to host
- Any spectators after that connect to the first spectator
- If the first spectator doesn't have their ports forwarded, no one else can connect.

I guess they put this in to reduce bandwidth, but it's still odd.

That sure didn't seem like a ragequit, so I'll attribute it to random disconnects. GGs. At first, you would graze every chance you got. Even if there are bullets to graze, it's not always the best answer to graze them. Kind of like Wonder Woman deflecting bullets that aren't even going to hit her, know what I mean? Yes, I do want you to block some key bullets, but it's important to pick and choose which ones you -do- decide to graze.

Also, you've got to use your cards more. I know I'm not exactly giving you free chances to use anything, but there were a lot of matches where you'd be stuck with the same hand for the entire match, and I'd run out of cards(or nearly). People usually don't agree with my preference of running proxy system cards like frozen frog and parasol, but it forces the deck to flow the way you want it to, without having to really throw away a card.

Heck, there was that one match where I BE'd over and over like an idiot and got crushed a dozen times. I was stuck with a single orb for the few moments before you ravaged me.

In the end, there was so much fear that I couldn't do anything. Thank you for the tips, but at the moment, I just don't feel like I'm cut out for this game.

If I should comment on something in our matches it must be your agressive use of BE. You did take me by surprise at times, especially in air. It's too slow to go in between staggered melee, and I doubt your earning ratio will look any good if you're experimenting. But experimenting is good, and you need to fail sometimes in order to learn. I'd say after Komachi's 6/3a is the best opportunity to do a dd6, unless the player is running an alt. with melee properties (which you did), or have a SC with melee properties in the deck. I have the feeling I was forgetting something in my strings, but that's only natural when focusing on other games; I joined on a whim when I saw an EU host on the front page.

I surely don't mind, I see it so seldom anyway. There are those who don't know how to do it, those who don't care about it, and those who are so much better than yourself that they easily escapes your preassure without the need of it, only using it in rare cases, which in turn greatens their chances of doing it successfully. And then there's me and you and the likes - we both seek opportunities to do successfull BEs, and end up experimenting and in cases overusing it. Let me tell you - I always BE after Yuyuko's 5aa, 3a, and 6a, or 421b for that matter, when pinned in the corner; or else I end up taking chances - chances that makes me look bad for thinking I could punish or escaping with 'that' gesture.. ;_;

The only downfall is that it tempt the opponent into focusing on baiting BE rather than the usual stuff. E.g. I ended up overusing dial-A staggers, without it failing me too much.

I'm terribly bad against pressure, I often never know what to do at all, sitting in the corner and chicken guarding.
That's pretty much why I started to use BE and tried to use it correctly.

And you're right, when you overuse it, your opponent starts to focus on it and it weakens his pressure game.
Now you can just stop using it (or not too often) and it works well... That's the part where I suck.

Late reply:
Komachi is obviously not my main, but I'm playing with her "full-time", when I'm playing the game. I've picked up most of my BnB tactics from replays, which many other in a certain level of play will do; so I think you will face a similar Komachi in due time, and proably much better ones, than mine if you keep playing (and visit diverse communities). Those tactics I make for myself, accordingly to my style of play, is far from great, and mostly very demanding on situation criteria. I still have some bad habits, I've changed up a few times, and only reacently made a 'final' decision on my main deck with her.. I'd say my gravest issue with Komachi is the match-ups - some of them really sucks (and vice versa?), and demotivates some - but that's the thing when learning new characters with an established fundation. Certain issues may very well be individual. I figure the main thing saving grace is the rarity of good Komachi players (not promoting myself to be good in skill); but Magister should take over if there's general stuff to say about Komachi. He's obviously around, that storyteller. So yeah, that's me blogging about my Komachi thing. Move along.

Do tell if there's some characters you're more comfortable with than others in the selection.

Even more late reply :
I can't say I'm comfortable against any characters (since I don't play enough against much better opponents (which means almost everyone), I can't confirm this) but I can at least say I'm very weak against Suwako and Komachi, maybe because I don't really know how to play them.

Same goes for the characters I play, since I random almost everytime, I don't really have a main (even if my fav is Alice). Yet I can say I'll NEVER be able to play Marisa, I just can't, don't know why. I'm also terribly bad with Suwako, Komachi, Cirno and Aya, but at least I like playing them.

(And yeah, I already played once against Magister, it was a painful experience, but I hadn't half of my actual level back then (Woah, I sucked))

About communities, I played a bit around the IRC channel, but I'm often too lazy to connect and find an opponent. Otherwise I don't know where to look for some games.

Also, anyone have tips on landing spellcard combos? I've gotten past that barrier with Sakuya somewhat by using 3A more since it combos into 66B, but it seems as if all of my my spellcard combos with Reimu/Sanae rely on 66B/C respectively and everyone always sees it coming.

Bullshit. The only "evidence" you can cite for this are those outdated tier lists that still take into account pre-1.10 data, when Utsuho actually *did* suck

Watch Nicovideo Soku matches. When Utsuho is being played, that player will win 8 times out of 10

If you follow the link to the tierlist he's referring to, you can see it's not a mere win/loss rate report. Your pre-1.10 argument thus is invalid. But again (and again and again), this is a japanese tier-list, and not only japs tend to have more experience than EU/US players, but they also have an extremely different playstyle, so it really isn't applicable here.
IMO western play isn't developed enough to be taking any tierlist seriously, simply because there's like half of the cast no good player mains.

But sure, one can say that Okuu has it easy when both players ain't playing the game for too long/seriously, but one should not quote tierlists for that.

Hopefully you didn't mind the frozen fish deck, I wanted to test out some Utsuho 623 grab gimmicks, but they didn't really work out too well. Just so happened that I put that card in the frozen fish deck and forgot to change it before playing today.

It's them flight angles of yours. Around and around in circles screwing up my block she went and I'd always be a step behind until I could get a better read on it. I don't mind fishdecks, been hit with them in clever ways when playing against that EU Youmu.

A pity that they've nerfed her every goddamn update even when she's shit tier. Although it is funny to look at the SWR wiki and laugh at the combos that do 1,000 less damage in 1.10 and all the now wrong information about move properties. "Special cancellable? Ha. You wish!" "Okizeme? In Tempest after a Deadline day maybe." "You want a special with an attack? Tough shit. Have a slow triple jump that costs meter." ;_;

GGs Hexagon.
You'll need to learn/practise border escapes if you want to have a chance against sakuya/tenshi/suwako/reisen/remi/etcetera. Easier way to do it is to correctly block a move (meaning you'll have to block a high move high, a wrong block won't do, even if it somehow results in a block), and then input 1DD during the blockstun. As long as you're doing it during a pretty long bullet move (like tenshi's rock drills), you're good to go and escape with your spirit meter refilled, at least if your opponent doesn't change their blockstring.
I can't help you much regarding Yukari, because I don't know lots about her. I would simply recommend not to use 2A too much, especially as a poke, because it won't combo into much, if anything, and it's not noticeably faster than c.5A. Maybe it's even slower.

Good games again. This game must really hate you. Typhoon always came up at the worst possible moment for you. Also, why don't you play a ground game instead of flying around all the time? It would probably work out better for you than what you're doing now.

Just hold down D and press 7/8/9. There's no need to make things harder for yourself by doing it the normal way.

>chicken blocking
There are a few frames of jumping animation before you leave the ground where you're completely vulnerable. You probably got caught during that or got hit with an air-unblockable attack.

>teching
There are some attacks that cause an untechable knockdown even without hitting limit so that may have been why you couldn't tech. You shouldn't be teching all the time anyway. If you get predictable your opponent can easily punish you for it.

>Super jumping
That's a recipe for disaster with any kind of lage when you're trying to use it to escape pressure since you have about a quarter second to react before flight kicks in with its vulnerable frames plus slow movement.

>Chicken blocking
This was far more pervasive than just a single issues or two. Especially with projectiles on the field. j.664 was a free ticket to getting hit by anything and I was even getting tagged by projectiles after I was already in the air. I'd think it's my keyboard ghosting, but I've had no problems trying it with offline.

>Teching
Ground teching, not air. Even outside of Diamond Dust, it was a crapshoot whether or not the tech would register.
