Take, for example, the yara-ma-yha-who. This is a small, red, vampiric creature that lives on fig trees. It is subservient to the spirit of its tree, should it fail to capture its prey, the fig spirit is responsible for punishing it. When it finds a human, it drops from its tree and uses its suckered fingers to drain blood from the victim until he is unable to resist. The vampire then takes the opportunity to eat his victim whole.

Here comes the catch: Yara-ma-yha-who are unable to digest flesh. Children are even told to avoid struggling while the vampire tries to eat them, because doing so may cause personal injury. The yara-ma-yha-who then does a peculiar dance and spits out the victim, except he comes out a bit redder and shorter. If the victim cannot escape the exhausted vampire at this point, he'll be drained and eaten again, and if he gets caught enough times, he'll end up as a new little red vampire on the fig tree.

A yara-ma-yha-who Touhou would be great. She'd drain your blood until you black out, whereupon she turns you into another yara-ma-yha-who with her saliva. When you wake up, you'd be a little vampire girl with a strict fig spirit onee-sama.
