Usually its a good idea to hold your fire if there is an ally in your field of fire. Remember that you shot could go anywhere within the green ring, so if it's really wide and you've got an ally in there, there's a chance of hitting them.

This confused the hell out of me at first too, but you're not actually "randomly locking on to the floor"...

you're just on a hill.

Keep in mind that your view angle is up high above your tank, unless you hit shift for a first person view. Things you think you can see over a hill are actually not visible to your gun, and the green firing circle will jump down to the ground simply because that's all your current gun view is giving you. You can see it in 3rd person, but you can't shoot it.

yes, even if you don't use autoaim, there's this extremely annoying auto-snap when your reticle gets near a target at close range, including allies. It drives me crazy when I'm fighting someone at pointblank range that's shorter than me (which is nearly everyone in my xbox hueg 3001P) and my reticle keeps bouncing up and down. Ditto when there's a hill or something and it freezes on one point then just suddenly jerks when I move it clear enough of the hill, it's impossible to aim properly when it doesn't move smoothly

Gonna part with my T-43. Going for Jagdpanzer IV, down the US medium or heavy line and perhaps some way down german mediums. If german mediums, then US heavies.

Also, I can't stop loving my StuG. One-shotting dudes in T4 vehicles with the 105mm or taking 20% off of a Tiger with each shot is extremely satisfying and so worth the relatively low accuracy and long reload.

Go heavy if you want to be a "tank", one shotting things and bounce/soak tons of damage. If you want to be fast and have the ability to run around and shoot people from behind (and circle them faster than their turret can turn), go medium. US is known for paper armor, however, but their T29 and above (heavies) are bugged or something and got insane armor at the time.

well fuck, I saw a message on the launcher yesterday about maintenance today, and thought it meant there was an update, now I realize it was just datacenter maintenance. Disregard, I suck cocks, etc.

In any case I'll be preparing for softwipe by turning off rapid crew training, as they've said that xp accumulated on tanks will be turned into free xp along with the research. Also I'm not sure I want to bother getting any new tanks between now and softwipe because anything I spend on crew training will be wasted.

You'll need either photoshop or GIMP with an extension to edit the texture files (use the google).
The texture files are in %World of tanks%/res/vehicles/<country>/<tank name>/
The file you're looking to edit is <tank name>.dds, you can ignore the _crash, _NM and _SM files
Figuring out where the polys are is a matter of trial and error as the textures look like this (example is a modified German Hetzer. Teto~)
I strongly suggest backing up the texture before working in case something breaks.

I feel that around tier 6 is the best place to make money. Higher tier cost too much to run and is a big responsibility in games. If you drive a Tie 8+ tank and you fuck up you could cost your team the game.

1. go to xxx\World of Tanks\res\gui\maps\icons\tankmen\icons
2. Log into WoT and look at your crews icons, then find the respective type of icon(Big is when you do more info, barracks is barracks, small is what you see in garage)
2.5. Backup the tankmen(optional)
3.Find an image you want to replace the crew icon with, select the face(usually) and save it as uncompressed 100x60 TGA for small and barracks, 158x118 TGA big.
4.paste it over the tankman icon.

To make it look proper take something like GIMP and make the background transparent and select a bigger area around the face so it doesn't overlap some text.

In my games with the T57 there was nothing heavier than a PzIII.

Also, I wish they gave the Easy 8 the howitzer. At the moment it feels like a downgrade from the normal Sherman.
I could give T1s and KVs something to consider with it, and I have no such privilege with the Easy 8.

what should I do after everything gets reset? I'm trying to get to the next level on my t-34 and sherman and I have an almost elite leopard. I don't really like the leopard for anything but driving around really fast but I don't think dropping it will give me enough to get anything to tier 6. should I just rebuy everything?
