However, it IS based around socializing. We are here to socialize with people who share our interests.

The specific POINT may not be to build a social network, but that doesn't mean it has nothing to do with socializing. I suppose this thread is as good as any for what I have to say. In an effort to get a job so that I can buy things like food and computers and figures and go on to continue my college education so that I can be normalized (I'm not planning on truly becoming normal, just planning to get to a point where I can get by and not be considered a worthless bum), I am staying with family and will not have access to my computer in a few days from now (two or three days). The computer will be fine, but I will not. I'll have it back if I get a job or leave to live elsewhere. I'm entering into this situation mostly willingly.

Any advice on how to maintain my connection to the computer-based life that I need, while still abiding to these terms? I've already moved my Elona and Dwarf Fortress folder to my USB stick, and plan to load it up with portable applications. There are computers at the library near here, and the plan is already that instead of my computer, I use the library computers to apply to and search for jobs (which I genuinely plan to do).

tl;dr
What portable applications do you recommend I get for my USB stick when I can't use my computer?

Social phobias don't exactly make it easy. I can cope, for some time, but there's no way I could do a full eight hours, at least if it's a shit job like the only kind I could probably get right now.

>But most importantly, try to enjoy life, as long as you can type on a computer it isn't bad at all, at least in my opinion.
Like I said, enjoying life simply is not going to happen. My computer and hikki lifestyle have made things bearable, to the point where I don't feel like killing myself any more. But that's more for the sake of my family and friends than for myself. At this point I'm almost hoping to run into a sacrifice-myself-for-the-little-girl scenario so that I can die without troubling them. That or get horribly injured and have a little girl who loves me unconditionally, and so I can have a hikki lifestyle and not appear to be a worthless bum.

>Okay. People fail to kill themselves all the time. Nobody fails to leech off the government, all you need to be is poor enough.

The point wasn't about failure, but about it being easier. To leech off of the government requires a bit of hassle. Killing yourself is far easier, and failing at a task that isn't extraordinarily difficult just requires persistence. It's like using a lighter. Even if you don't happen to have spun the spur quickly enough to strike enough of a spark the first time, you can just keep on trying until it happens. Extremely easy, even if failure is possible.

Killing yourself is still easier than leeching off of the government. You don't need to fill out papers, forms, interact with anyone, or even get approval to kill yourself. All or at least some of that is necessary to leech off of the government.

Anyway, while getting government money and leeching might work I still need to make it believable for the person who is currently supporting me that I have a job and that I have a place to live (because there's no way they can believe I have a job if I'm not working).

If I were to try to get government money, I'd need to either be able to go to college so that living away from them makes sense, or get a believable excuse for me living elsewhere.
