Both points are certainly true, but it seems to point towards a rift between what teenage girls and teenage boys are into. There were rifts when I was in school, and I would assume there are different rifts today.

Maybe younger and/or female demographics are more likely to bother with the register, sign in, thumbs up or down stuff? I'm sure a lot of users just don't care enough for that.

Then again, stuff like Precure manages to be popular with both little girls and otaku. It certainly wouldn't be shocking for the right otaku-oriented bullshit to draw in little girls, even by accident.
