It actually was. It wasn't fast enough though, and I returned some of the bullets with the first wave of fairies. I figured you were deliberately doing it that time... but then you did a single lv2 as Reisen.

On an unrelated note, Sakuya's timestop fucking sucks against Youmu's attacks.Turned the damn things into solid lines.

PoFV related question:
When I try to change the key config to fit my gamepad, the configuration doesn't take effect. Even after restarting the game.
Is this a bug? Is there any sort of patch?

Quick Question: What size is this game?

I'm looking at a 70 MB file and a 554MB file... I assume the smaller file doesn't include the music or some retarded shit like that, should I just download the 500 MB one?

I hate this game as in, its my least favorite in the Windows series.

I think this was the first Touhou I ever played and got a pretty bad experience from it because I still wasn't quite used to the hilarious amounts of bullets, etc...

After playing IN, PCB, SA and UFO I'm willing to give this one another chance.

I already have PoFV patched to 1.50a and Adonis.exe

I tried opening Adonis on its own and typing "watch", and then putting in the IP and port, but then it just closes.

Must I have PoFV running in the background? If so, in what menu?

Adonis starts PoFV, so don't have it running.

To play a game normally, one person hosts and posts the IP and Port in the thread, done by select (s)erver and then the port number. Someone else joins the game by selecting (c)lient, then the IP, then the port. If someone else has already joined the game, or if the host has given up, the client will get an error message.

I have no idea how to get watch to work. You need to do something weird for it but I can't remember what.

Refer to the OP. You won't need the game running in the background, and you don't have to type the whole word. I think there's something about Adonis not working in conjunction with the English patch (in case you're using it)...don't take my word for it. I guess you'll find out eventually, or it'll be something else, or nothing at all.

'adonis' starts Japanese PoFV. Adonis itself is in Japanese
'adonise' starts English PoFV (th09e.exe). Adonis itself is in English.

Adonis and Adonise are completely compatible with each other. Select traditional/localized anything won't break compatibility either.

One final note. Make sure you get the latest English patch, as the first one had an odd bug where Lunasa couldn't charge shots.

Never had any problems with it. Do the same thing as if you were a client, and if it's in progress the game will fast forward until you catch up to the current match.

Anything that'll explode. The 'light birds' are spirits. Activate them before shooting them for best results. See below.

Your scope. All spirits that get caught in the scope become 'activated'.

Read the wiki for the effects. Level 2 is typically a weak attack and creates returnable bullets. Level 3 is usually (not always - Reimu) a stronger attack that never creates returnable bullets. Level 4 is the special boss attack. Since you get a free boss at 100k, 300k, and 500k tpoints, I say 4 is never worth it.

Press X to release your charge immediately. Not advised, as it always drops you to empty while doing a normal charge will only drop you 1 (or 2, or 3) level(s).

Pretty much. To briefly touch over the questions:

Both.

Activates the spirits / light birds / fairies / fireballs so they slowly float up and are easier to destroy. Letting them stay around long enough will eventually end in self-destruction with bullets aimed at you.

Depends on the difficulty, I guess. On Lunatic you should be counting on boss summons through racking up Bpoints, which level 2 charges are good for since more bullets will be thrown around to jack up the combo / Bpoint count when chained. There might be some strategy in pressuring the opponent if they're human with level 3 charges since it won't spawn reflectable bullets, but I don't really mess around with it. Might deliberately do it with Sakuya because that spell is obnoxious, but it also means having the luxury of saving up without using a fairy spell to save your ass from something else in the meantime.

Destroying fairies, spirits, and reflecting bullets by using the explosions from the defeated fairies / spirits.

The bomb expends the highest charge level you have, depleting the entire meter so you can even do level one charges. Think about using it when the next hit you take is pretty much guaranteed to bring you down to half an orb.

Level 4/dragon attack. Happens through manual charging or the automatic summon at 100k/300k/500k. The boss will use about 3 different attacks and spawn more EX attacks, so usually you want to get rid of it. To do this, either shoot it until it dies (usually only viable for characters with a powerful shot like Yuka) or shoot your own boss attack at the enemy, which automatically removes hers. The advantage of the former is that you get one of 4 powerup items (+100k bpoints, auto-fill gauge to max, shoot EX attacks, shoot non-returnable bullets). The advantage of the latter is that you get 300k score when you win the match, although this is only useful in story mode.

Every time I try to start up th09e.exe, I keep getting this error but I have no idea what it says. I assumed that it had something to do with th09.cfg so I started from there.

I backed it up, deleted it, renamed it. I ran the program in compatibility mode for Windows NT, and still nothing.

Anyone know what I can do about this?
