It has been stated time and again that youkai DO NOT think like humans do. Sure they may walk up and start chatting with you....then suddenly turn hostile and decide to decapitate you.

I just don't think youkai, with their thought patterns, can reach out enough to 'love' a human in a way that a human mind could.

Now whether or not I'd be up for trying to break down that wall is another story.

Youkai that interact with humans are, on some level, shadows of humans. They are, like the majority of Western monsters, representations of all the dark and negative things that form from our thoughts and take shape in the unseen night.

To say they have alien minds is like saying our own darkness is alien beyond understanding. They're just a little bit more malevolent than the average person, and a great deal more difficult to understand.

But they're not eldritch. They still have motives and thoughts which have some parallel with human ones, basic needs, etc.

And then there's the consideration that imperfect love, what people consider "obscene" and strongly emotional, is not necessarily "evil." Maliciousness by youkai isn't evil: it's just a reflection of their natures. Evil is a choice, while youkai act accordingly.

I can see how it'd be easy to have a relationship with something like a yuki-onna if one was willing to cast away definitions like "good" and "evil," and embrace the situation at hand.

Nothing you've said is something that a human couldn't or hasn't already done. Malevolency takes many forms, and it's not necessarily the case that creatures born of darkness would desire torture of such a base form. You're more likely to get the raw deal in one of Yukari's schemes in an ironic and humorous way (albeit possibly painfully), than for her to go out of her way to torture you like cattle.
