>Hanachiru
Shit. Was almost excited for a moment, but this is going to be another one of those stories where people jump around doing ridiculous things with katanas, and where the narration and everyone else glorifies the katana and or the techniques over and over again, is it not?

Kigoukai had tons of katana fights too, but that was still fine because it was never really about that sort of stuff. It was more about Inner Magical Energy kung fu vs External Modifications kung fu, and it was never really the whole "Oh Glorious Nippon" thing either, they even praised the western Rapier near the end to be more than just suitable for their martial art, and it was the antagonist's weapon of choice.

But this? This however looks like some biased Japan story made for people with an unfounded hard on for katanas and samurais or something like that.
Or am I wrong?

>> No.6447589

>>6447558
So any stories that has katana and take place in Japan must be full of nationalistic shit?
Awesome logic bro.

The NIPPON BANZAI mentality is constantly ridiculed in Hanachirazu, Narahara may be a pro Kendoka, and it shows in the fights, must he isn't the nationalistic type at all.
It's even more noticeable in Muramasa.

>> No.6447611

>>6447558
With a pissy attitude like that, I'm sure you won't like it. There is no glorious nippon in it, but if I wanted to be witty, I would say it's like a wikipedia article on kendo at times. The writer, Narahara, does kendo himself. It's basically the prototype to what would later be known as Narahara's masterpiece, Muramasa.

It's got one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard and Akane is a fantastic protagonist.

>> No.6447612

>>6447558
>But this? This however looks like some biased Japan story made for people with an unfounded hard on for katanas and samurais or something like that.
>Or am I wrong?
Narahara is a lot more aware of this than you think. He put jabs in his games a lor (when Akane is raping a girl, he says to her "you aren't telling me not to rape you, that is why Japanese are seen as funny abroad", and how people began wearing traditional kimono and katana even though that wasn't part of the original message just like "posers", or how most sword "legends" have a perfectly rational explanation, or how katanas came to be used as personal weapons because of selection and not because they're the most powerful).
He does love traditional japanese style, but the important thing is that he's not biased towards it and does not glorify it.
Still, there's plenty of kendo techniques and sword schools and japanese nationalists, so if you're one of those people that can't read anything like that without feeling it's weeaboo ROR GLORIOUS NIPPON, it's not for you, I'd guess.

Well ok, that actually does sound fine.
It may have not showed in my previous post, but I actually don't really have anything directly against Japan itself, so it is not as if I can't touch anything that is "Japanese like".

Though there are many works, who do this on ridiculous levels, pic related for instance for a more ridiculous example.

But if Narahara is actually aware of things like this then it might actually not be that bad.
The premise however sounded as if it possibly could be one of those really ridiculous ones.
But if this is true then I guess it won't be that bad.

translators generally fantranslate to generate more exposure for games they like. It makes sense to accept once a proper company asks you, since on one side you'll be supplying them with quality work, and on the other they'll take care of everything else. The original companies make profits, and everyone's happy.
OR that would be the case, if there weren't people pirating the shit out of proper releases anyway and the original companies themselves cared about western releases at all (see: cut voices, work on game engine delayed to Otome function release date levels).
