When I was in Tokyo I was suspected of groping a girl.

I have an load of interesting tales about my time in Japan, I've been from top to bottom and even visited a few of the smaller islands when money allowed it.

I remember going to Obama in Fukui, people acted like they had never seen a white man before, I had my picture taken with schoolkids eating in the trainstation. that was pretty bizzare, but when you go to the major cities, leave common sense at the door, the Japanese are fucking daffy, entertaining to say the least!

The most chilled out country in asia is most definitely Taiwan, it's the only country in the world where a guy has come up to me and asked me to turn over because he was worried I would get sunburned... that was some major d'aww.

I'm still in Taiwan now, it's coming close to being my favourite country.

Food is cheap
Smokes are cheap
The people are nice and friendly
Chinese is easy enough to speak once you have the key sounds down.
The clubs in Kaohsiung are always lively and fun.
best of all, they have a huge amount of untouched countryside, treks in Taiwan are beautiful.

Yes! I've traveled through mainland china, it's a wonderful place and some of their temples are the most wonderful, peaceful and spiritual places you could ever visit. they don't charge either and the head really wants you to enjoy your time there and learn something, and learn about you... unlike japan where it was "Y300, have a look around, get out." but nothing comes close to Taiwan... wonderful place to be, add to the mix that every day is quite warm over here (despite the rain we've been having recently) and it really is a winner.

Taiwanese girls are pretty cute, they come a little darker skinned than their Chinese counterparts but again, they usually experience culture shock in the smaller cities and towns much like the Japanese and Chinese. I'm British and I grew up around just about every race and religion going, but these guys are thunderstuck sometimes.

Seriously, Taiwan is the place to go for a good time, Taipei or Kaohsiung, they are both excellent spots to kick back in the day and party all night.

Well... I could, but there's a lot more to it than just talking, it's a dynamic, you have to appear to be a smart, attractive, handsome man, and be at their command.

When me and a few buds were in Osaka next to the Glico man bridge a while back, we had a check list of things we had to do in Japan before we went back home. Yes, high alcohol tolerance is a must, it's the difference between a host and a paid drinking partner, you can't afford to lose even an ounce of control on the job :) luckily for me when I get drunk my British accent deepens and I become a bit more whorish (classy whorish, not trashy) the customers considered it a plus, some of the Japanese hosts used to completely bottle out and act like faggots when they drank too much, the boss used to go mad at them when the customers complained... when it was really busy I had a little trick, I had a packet of rivita in my locker, when there was a high volume of customers I'd take a 5 minute break to freshen up and load myself up on wheat and water to absorb the alcohol in my stomach, you don't get drunk as easily due to the slow digestion/absorbtion rate, but you do end up still a little tipsy the next morning if you really had to overdo it, never drink unless the customer asks/invites you to.

and don't worry about a thing man, most of the Japanese workers are, sorry to say, kind of ugly when you take off their make-up, you're probably not ugly at all... if you do use make-up just don't overdo it like the Japanese tend to, or you look like a mix between a kabuki actor and bobo the clown :)

Well it's hard to say really, Cider, Lager and Wine doesn't affect me at all, I can drink it like water (I grew up on pretty rough inner city a council estate, if you didn't drink, you didn't fit in), a small bottle of JD can get me tipsy if I drink it all in one go, spaced out over 2 hours it has no effect... though this all may be because I live a very active lifestyle and try to stick to my 5 a day, apart from my lungs (I smoke about 15 a day) I'd say everything else is in pretty good condition, I used to detox as much as I could in Tokyo to keep the air, alcohol, smoke and make-up from damaging my skin and hair, but unless you have a load of customers, I wouldn't worry, most japanese are lightweight, they get drunk VERY easily, although I try to stop them from drinking fast I can't count how many times a customer would run to a bathroom stall to throw up, like a gold standard host I gave them a warm welcome back, offered them fruit juice and mint, reassured them that they did nothing wrong and that it didn't bother me and carried on as if nothing happened... you can land some pretty huge tips for compassion, most men would be grossed out and try to avoid being close to them.

thats probably the result of a pampered upbringing and a cushy lifestyle... Im from Sweden myself and i must say our alcohol tolerance is alot more varied than what i hear from brits and other Europeans. Some people here can hold their liquor like a russian truck driver(I've seen a russian professional driver down 1l of vodka in one driving session while braving the northern mountainpass roads of Norway, the deadliest in europe) as an example. Others they cant outdrink a twelve year old, im personally a bit of both pending on if i've had a decent meal beforehand or not.
