I'm not sure I understand the metaphor here. Why is Kanako an absentee father? When was she even absent?

I've always though of Kanako as being the one who really keeps the Moriya family together, and that she taker her role as the family head very seriously, even if only because she cares so much about Suwako, Sanae and the things they have in common; their shrine, their former country etc. She might seem like a bit of a cold bitch at times, but I like to think she's only really like that when acting like the family head facing the outside. I think she's very warm and sentimental at heart and always doing what she thinks is the best for the family, and both Sanae and Suwako trust her to do things right.

Kanako isn't my favorite Touhou, she's not even my favorite hag, but she's more or less the reason the Moriya Family is my favorite household in Gensoukyou.
