You idiots! How the hell are we supposed to take over Gensokyo when you can't even drive the damn tank straight?

>> No.6440764

They didn't have any of us WoT Drivers there then, I'd have rolled over half of Gensokyo in my Panzer by the time it took them to crash theres.

Only the Maus isn't particularly tiny tiny or clever, considering 99% of the bridges in Europe couldn't hold it.

Most tanks could be fitted with a snorkel for movement through rivers. Maus was no exception.

>> No.6443012

>>6442988

tanks + amphibious = death, usually.

I mean, okay, if you had perfectly clear water, and a nice firm bottom to the river, theoretically 1 maus could give the other power while it crossed, and then the maus that just crossed would do the same for the other maus.

In practical use, most tank crews (just in general, not only the maus) that tried to snorkel through some water ended up bailing the fuck out and leaving it there, or (since tanks aren't particularly easy to hop out of) dying miserably at the bottom of some shitty river.
There are just too many issues you run into
Tanks are heavy and they sink into river bottoms, they get stuck, you can't see obstacles, your engine might stall, you might asphyxiate or drown, watertightness isn't a guarantee, water in the barrel, so on and so forth.

Generally speaking, a few brave souls on each side tried it, failed miserably. Tank warfare then called a sort of collective "fuck that" on trying to cross rivers.

APC's though, are another story.

Nope. At least not today anymore.

Modern MBT's can deep-ford rivers several meters deep as long as you have a reasonably flat bed.
