You missed the memo, KID filed for bankruptcy a while back.

It was originally by KID, but then Cyberfront purchased the rights to all of KID's games, and finished this one. Written by the same guy who did the rest of infinity, so at least this one, isn't pure milking off the franchise. For now, because all Anons who finished the game say that it has an open ending.

Basically, fourth game in the infinity series. Unlike Never7 and Ever17, it seems that the author went Nasu and shewed us his raging erection for something awkward. Rather than mollusks, this guy has a fetish for bullshit theories and random references to science or art or some other trivial knowledge (Quantum physics, philosophy, trickster art, time travel, RSD(but no Sora), overuse of the 'syndrome' word (Encyclopedia Syndrome, for starters), random theories about time coming to a stop, Mayan calendar.. and that's just the tip of the iceberg).

It's pretty good, though. You won't need a dictionary/translator to play it, though, but instead use wikipedia. It's required, because of all those fucking references.

12RIVEN demo, english translated.

It's pretty damn awesome, even with shitty demo art (gets slightly better in the full release, but it isn't Ever17).

Is there a yandere or at least some drama in this game? A game can get by on story...but it has to be pretty damn awesome story. If it's 10 hours of clunky exposition sessions with the sexy scientist chick or other designating explainer than it sucks.

Having only played Renmaru's side (it's an entirely different storyline), the game IS entertaining, but the exposition shit gets tiring. Moreso because it's all fucking worthless; my current theory is that the author figured out that to keep the actual revelations that hint towards the real ending, he had to hide them beneath piles and piles of boring bullshit. Kind of like sandwiching in Ever17, but without Takeshi punching the Kid.

There's random fights every now and then that speed up the pace, and the actual plot is really interesting, but the monologues about worthless stuff throw dirt over an otherwise great story. Oh, and there's mindfuck too. But unlike Ever17, where the fuckery is only hinted and then suddenly revealed, 12RIVEN is open about it from the go, so certain scenes lose their, how to say it, 'power'.

Also, Narumi (the other POV character, female) has the shittiest excuse for a deus ex machina, ever.

No, at most there will be very vague references to other games in the series.

The game is fairly reference free. The closest thing would be a small section, some twenty lines explaining a plot device, about RSD & AI (Ever17).
Although infinity games might as well by happening in different timelines, since minus CURE in Never7 & Ever17 (which still doesn't explain why the people in N7 never mention TB), there's no real correlation between each title.

But well, the only Infinity game that happens before 12RIVEN is Remember11.
The major relation between the games is the thematics, really.
