No, in that route the chances of Shirou becoming Archer were almost impossible. Archer told Rin himself that if she stays at his side, then a hero like him won't be born. Which makes me wonder if in Archer's time if he and Rin weren't an item and then something really bad happened.

It would explain his bitterness and RAGE in UBW and why he takes the fatal hit in HF and stays to kill Berserker as many times as he can in Fate.

Stumbled across this the other day: http://nrvnqsr.proboards20.com/index.cgi?board=fanfic&action=display&thread=2333

Fanfic with an interesting take on the Rin and Archer relationship. Not to mention it crossover with Tsukhime and there's one AWESOME Rin/Aoko yuri scene in there as well. Starts off a little rough, but once the Author hit the first chapter, she got her stride and she writes a damned good Rin. And when Archer makes his appearance (it takes him a while), well, it's damned GAR.
