So since this is the Japanese board I'll ask you guys. I have a friend who goes to places to live for a year or more and he goes with nothing, and somehow manages. He's lived in Florida, Germany, Iceland, and Ohio.
I want to do what he does but in Japan. And this isn't a glorious nippon thing, I don't even watch anime or play video games, I'm just really sick of south Florida and have to get the fuck out soon, and I'm interested in places like Mt. Fuji, Tokyo, and those beautiful shrine places.
so I come here for advice and one main question.
what's the cheapest way to travel to Japan?
So I come here for advice, and mainly to

>He's lived in Florida, Germany, Iceland, and Ohio

All those places. the common resident knows a good amount of English. This isn't the case in Japan. You'll have near zero chance of getting a job and finding a place to live.

I am asking both trv and jp, because they're both on topic. Don't be assholes and sage a thread about Japan on a Japanese section of 4chan.

Stopped reading here.

What the fuck? I've been to Florida only once in my lifetime, since I'm not an American, but I fucking loved it. If I somehow will manage to finish my college and get degree, I'll do my best to move there. While we're at this topic, is the living cost really that expensive there as some people say?

I still laugh at how 4chan doesn't understand what sage means.

If only I knew moon so I wouldn't have to spend time on a board that imports foreign concepts and then DOES IT WRONG all the time.

Using sage as a way to "insult" someone's post or thread is just completely wrong and a retarded misuse of a good feature that is so popular in sites like 2ch and Futaba. Fuck, iichan and 4-ch do it right. It's just 4chan and 4chan's lame knockoffs that fail at using sage.

The true meaning of sage means that YOUR POST isn't worthy enough to bump the thread. It's ironic, because you think that you're insulting others while you're just, in fact, insulting yourself. Yes, sage can be used when posting a derogatory comment in a thread that you don't want to bump, but posting with just the word "sage" accomplishes nothing but contribute to spamming the board. The trend of replying with the name of a tripfag and sage is even worse, as it accomplishes nothing and only serves to increase the e-penis of whoever you're "attacking".

The sage feature was never meant to serve as an implied insult or general disagreement! Why people started using it that way is beyond me. There are plenty of reasons why one would choose not to bump a thread with his reply. For example, bumping threads with stupid one liner replies should be discouraged and those people should be coerced into using sage instead.

I want to use sage, yet I almost never do it on 4chan because people will jump on me thinking I'm insulting their post or something.

Rule 13: Sage - In general, sage doesn't have a negative connotation in /jp/. It doesn't mean "I HATE YOUR POST," it's just a command that lets you post without bumping. Sagebombing is also fucking retarded, a single bump can ruin your entire sagebomb and if you reach the bump limit the OP can just recreate the thread. If you don't like a thread, just hide it using 4chan's Firefox Extension.

Welcome, new user to /jp/ - Japan/General! Hah, just kidding, this isn't Japan/General. This is Touhou/Visual Novels/Doujin Games.

If you want to discuss the different places you can visit in Japan, I suggest you go to /trv/ (though they also seem to hate Japan there, so don't annoy them too much). If you want to discuss the Japanese language, go to /lang/ (yes, 4chan has text boards!). If you want to discuss anime and manga, go to /a/ (some series that are based on light novels/VNs/games like Marimite and Higurashi can also be discussed in /jp/, it really depends, so lurk a bit to see what's acceptable). Finally, if you want to talk about Japanese history and culture, go somewhere else, nobody here knows or cares for that stuff.

/jp/ was created as a board to get rid of Touhou and visual novels from /a/, it was never intended to be a board about Japanese culture. Most of the users here don't care about Japan, we only care about lolis and doujin games.

You want a job teaching English over there? Because that's all you're getting without lots of contacts or like a master's degree or something. Even if you're not planning on working, I'm not sure how Japan feels about Americans just coming over to take it easy for a while re: a visa.

Sorry to break this to you but Japan and Germany are two entirely different countries. Living cost in Japan is expensive as fuck , your money from playing guitar ( yeah, I'm assuming that people would even bother to waste their precious time to pay attention to you playing guitar) won't even bring you enough money to survive.

OP, Japan is not for you. You barely know the language, you don't have any embarrassing weeaboo interests that would make it worthwhile and you really don't know what you're getting yourself into. Being a white guy in Japan is only beneficial if you have money or you're Tommy Lee Jones, and it doesn't sound like either of those apply to you.

If you want to see pretty sights, they've got that stuff all over the world. Try someplace in Europe, somewhere you won't stick out too bad.

Oh seriously. By defending reaction images you're negating all your right to speak for /jp/.

It sure feels like the entire meta-flames lately have been solely newfriends versus newfriends trying to push some contrived guidelines on everyone. Seriously, stop this, you're not helping either youself or the board. Want to fit in that much? Then be civil, don't act retarded and stay on-topic. It's really that simple. And, no, currently you're failing to do that.

We don´t want infantil americans to raid our historic sides. It´s fucking annoying if you can spot the average american tourist from a mile away because:
a) they´re loud as fuck and insulting everything non-american
b) they´re freaking out if someone says that america isn´t the most awesome country in history of epicness
c) some´s telling them to stop waving their shitflag everywhere
