Of course its a publicity stunt. It raises awareness of vocaloids and lets them check if there is a market for the product before they invest millions to bring a product to a place that had no interest. When it comes to marketing, they are excellent.

i'm just a little put off by the fact that people here are pretending not to realize this and act like they actually believe the company is going to base their actions(developing/releasing banks) off of facebook likes.

don't mind me, i just got a little bit ahead of myself until i realized that the people advertising the likes are just using the gimmick to help hype/spread vocaloid's popularity regardless of whether they understand the above or not.

Its true its not being based off facebook but you can be sure they will wait until it reaches 39k Likes. 39k is a large number for something as niche as Vocaloid.

Thats exactly what I think. I think they projected the amount of Likes and when they would get it and they plan to push this thing out to hit the Christmas shopping season.

Bunch of people go around advertising for them for free to prep the public for the real campaign. They released vocaloid 2 during the Christmas shopping season in Japan and advertised it as entertainment software. I think they are very clever. It all makes sense. I hope they do the same thing here as they did over there and Miku takes North America by storm!
