You posted the wrong image. The original story just had the rapier and the chainmail on the pedastal and when the players went to take it the girl who was standing next to the pedestal said "please do not take these items". It was the players idea to throw the items on the girl and then take the girl.

I have this one thought where you get to choose among one item in a vault, which to take. The little girl inside takes care of it all, and tells you to choose. You choose to take her out of the vault, since she's a part of it.

Your thought is that if she's the keeper of the vault, that she has power over it, but you find out she doesn't have any power. She just knows what's in the vault and what it does.

So, all you get is a little caretaker girl from a magical treasure vault.

The original DM just made it as a derpy moral choice for his players and was surprised that it took on such a life. I guess how you fluff it is up to you, I mean its not like every pen and paper gamer will know the story if you planned on using it for your group.
