How come people are posting more and more /a/ in /jp/?
Is it because /a/ have given up their ban policy and started to post more and more /jp/ material over at /a/, and it being so that it confuses the /a/ posters making lose sight of the board boundaries or what?

Or is it just because /a/ have gotten shittier and shittier so that some tries to make /jp/ into some kind of /a/ for as long as it lasts? I could understand that even if it's shit and goes against all the rules, but that doesn't make sense either as the majority of the anime threads are just textless threads with images.

Or is it so that the spamming have simply increased due to the low moderation, lack of bans, and increasing attention /jp/ have gotten.
And that the anime spams confuses the younger users and the users of other boards?

And then you should understand that there is no real category such as "Nerd Culture", though it is less misleading than say "Japan / General" because the board was never about Japan.

When it was "japan general" it wasn't exclusively touhou-related as it is now. The name change had nothing to do with it. If the intention was to make it into a touhou-centric board, I'm sure it would have been re-named that way. But it wasn't. Again, there are a number of things that can and should be discussed, including idols -- but it's been ages since I've seen an idol thread here. As to your final suggestion, that's as likely as you fucking off, wouldn't you say?

The name change invited a flood of shit into the board. As "Japan/general" we were a board nobody gave two shits about in the outskirts of 4chan that nobody visited. Anyone who did come would be bored, because old /jp/ used to ignore trolls for the most part, with the occasional reverse troll for fun, because most of the "trolls" posted baby's first shitstorm threads that nobody would really fall for.

With the board named "Otaku Culture", it sticks out. We now have a huge sign pointing to us that may as well say "we're weeaboos, troll our shit hard xD" because that's what everyone sees with such a stupid name. The name doesn't even make sense, but it's not like Moot knows that. Japan/general was a discrete name, but just the word "Otaku" in any board name makes it noticeable.

So we opened up the floodgates of shit. I guess the summerfriends also contributed by the fact that they actually respond to trolls.

What the hell is that? You're just giving them attention, and they think you're "butthurt" or something. When /jp/ was raided in the past, most of us would just leave and come back later when the kids are done having their fun. Now it's like /jp/ participates in them.

tl;dr - Name change brought shit to the board, dunno where the new posters came from and don't care, but they've assimilated into /jp/ as new blood and are fucking /jp/ up from the inside. Or maybe I'm just seeing through my rose tinted glasses, but I don't remember /jp/ having as shitty of a userbase as it does now.
