Do you know Japanese, have some free time, and want to do some fun VN translation for /jp/?

If your answer to all of the above was 'yes', then join us in the Flyable Heart Translation Collaboration!

How do I participate?
Go to http://rechan.eu.org/go/fhtrans
Click on 'Go forth and translate'
Choose the new AJAX interface if you're using Firefox.
Click on any file you want
Click on column 2; now you can see the original and what you'll be translating
Pick any page to start from, which hasn't been translated yet
Write your translated lines into the left column, you can click on the one you want or use alt+shift+J or alt+shift+K to move between them
Fill in the code at the bottom and click submit
Repeat for as long as you feel like it.

Have fun and don't let the trolls get in your way!

Use English punctuation and leave lines with only a name alone. Keep honorifics.

Progress: First 43358 lines done. More than 0.5k throughout the rest in discontinuous patches.

Names:
晶, Crystal
結衣, Constipated Clothes
あきら, Getting Tired
天音, Sky Noise
くるり, Turning Around
すずの, Of Bell
茉百合, Jasmine Lily
桜子, Cherry Master

It's on par with the majority of fan translations, and if the allegations that it's a machine translation are true, that's even more SUGOI.

Are you just bitching about the change from passive voice to active voice? That seems like a passable translation to me. it's not artful or anything but it conveys the meaning perfectly well.

>> No.6290024

>>6289998
I think he's bitching about the verb being a gerund and not "do/is doing", or maybe he's just bored and needs to troll. Even if it's in gerund I also think it's still passable.

>> No.6290099

>>6290024

No, I'm bitching, because it's just bad English (but I'm doubting the translater is even aware how the passive voice works in Japanese). No English-speaking person is going to say "doing it tightly, it feels good".

>> No.6290253

>>6290099
Um, if you haven't noticed, he's translated nearly EVERYTHING HE'S DONE in passive voice like that so far. No need to pick out one example(there are much worse examples to point out, at that)

It'll probably be fixed up by the people editing the script. The first part of the script doesn't look that bad, English-wise, so when the same people get that far it'll probably be taken care of. Or maybe the people who did the first part of the script were just different people, I don't know.

>>6289652
Ok... I will admit that most fan translations are pretty bad, but that's really overstating it. At the least, the majority of fan translations that get completed are on a level far higher, and the ones at this level are generally thrown out somewhere in the middle.

>> No.6290555

Up up up!

>> No.6290578

>>6290099
Would you prefer "getting done by shou-kun tightly... feels good"? It's arguing shades of gray, and we'd need more context to determine if using the passive is really possible. "Doing it" and "getting done", while both can be used as sex terms, have very different connotations in English.

>> No.6290687

>>6290578

"Being [hugged] tightly by you... feels good"

Would be okay. But passive sucks, so just:

"It feels good... when you [hug] me tightly..."

Much better.

>> No.6290714

I like how the apologists for this project have gradually changed their tune from "So what if it's machine translated? It doesn't matter if the translation sucks because it's a moege" to "Nuh uh, the translation is fine... no, maybe even better than all others."
Is a little consistency so much to ask for?

Maybe it looks better to you, but one thing is pretty obvious --- you left out HIS FUCKING NAME. Everything else doesn't matter; if a concept like that is lost, the translation is a failure. The original line might as well have used 君, and there'd be no difference.

>> No.6293399

It should be standard protocol to replace the name with a pronoun in most cases. Japanese uses name address far, far, FAR more often than English. If you copy that you get something that reads like shit in English.

>> No.6294427

>>6293399
I would prefer proper nouns remain proper nouns and pronouns remain pronouns, since there's still a difference in English between calling someone by his/her name and just "you". Compare:

>Shou-kun......Shou-kun.....!
>You......you......!

>> No.6294460

>>6294427
Using names instead of second person pronouns in English only works for direct addresses and not predicates or objects.
I believe he meant something like this
晶君が好き
>I love Shou-kun
>I love you
>I love you, Shou-kun

The translation currently does stupid shit like the first one, which is technically correct.

>> No.6294629

A translation isn't a translation if it doesn't make sense in the target language. Translating is not a one-to-one mapping. Fuck, you're even keeping the Japanese sentence structure!

It's this faggot (>>6294986) that's claiming we're "rewriting". Fuck this shit. One tries to come up with an honest good translation that reads well in English, and some fool comes and replaces shit with poor attempts at a one-to-one direct "translation" that makes fuckall sense, and ironically, actually loses meaning from the original Japanese!
