What kind of MMOs does /jp/ play?

Is anyone else really excited for the new WoW expansion, just because hunters can finally tame foxes, so you can name your hunter Yukari and have a pet fox named Ran and a cat named Chen?

Pic related. Ran crits 5k+ on plate

What?? Another expansion?? Pfff... Let me guess, new level limit up to lvl 90?? overpowered enemies and all that shit? No way man.

WoW was * barely * fun when it only was the main game and the first expansion, until they released "Wrath of the licht king". Anyway, I wasted too much money on a boring game like this one. I don't have any patience for this kind of games. I only reached to lvl 14 with a mague, and then gave up with it. Well, I wasted like 70€.

The particular social interaction involved is not exactly normal. The significant thing about MMOs, though, is that their interaction does not preclude normals from participating as normals do. They were not destined for normals, indeed that was the surprise. The bigger surprise is that normals have adapted normal social interaction that fits with the non-normal MMO interaction (perhaps the most significant example of which is WoW). I know a guy who hangs out with his friends in the same room to play WoW. They're normals, but they've adapted their social interaction to include WoW.

There's a lot that can actually be discussed about the significance of MMOs, and about the interesting parts of MMOs, but don't be a fucking idiot.

There main three big contenders coming up for 2011 are as follows: TERA, Rift: Planes of Telara, and Guild Wars 2.

TERA is by far the most promising, but has released the least information overall. The Korean version is due to hit the shelves this year, or at least open beta will be held. Rift is also shaping up to be a very interesting game. TERA's combat is based on a non-targeting system, so players have to aim spells, and to dodge attacks, they need to literally move out of the way. It also implements collision detection, to a point where if you're shooting at a monster but an ally is blocking the way, that spell will hit your ally and fizzle. You can literally hide behind a tank for cover (and are encouraged to do so, as tanks block 90% of incoming damage if they use their shield block skill) in pvp and pve. The only downfall the game has, is that the game has 8 classes, and each class is locked down to using one type of weapon. I was allowed access to the second wave of focus group tests, and from what I experienced, the game is incredibly player skill based. There's a very large difference between a player who attacks/dodges at the right time and someone who facerolls.

Again, you're functioning off of your ignorant and faulty assumption that it is populated by mostly normals, and that it is made primarily for normals, and that just shows how much of a dumb motherfucker you are.

>I assume you do actually form parties and join clans yourself however, so this possibility is just a cover irrelevant to your own normalcy.

If I join a clan/guild, it's because I want to progress with the in-game content, not because I want to progress with socialization. The only reason I would join a clan/guild for the people is if it was a PvP guild and they were funny/skilled/chill PvPers. Again, it's done for the game content.

But that's just me. As before, see >>6288813

The fact is that you're an ignorant fucking kid, and a normal. Beat it.

Rift on the other hand has a total of 16 classes scheduled for release. The 4 main classes are the archetypal MMO classes Warrior, Cleric, Mage, Rogue, but each of those has 4 specific classes to choose from, and your rift character can mix and match between 3 subclasses in the same tree. So for example if I go mage, I can pick between the Warlock, Pyromancer, and Elementalist. I can use skills from all 3 trees at the same time, or I can specialize in one, or do a hybrid in-between. The possibilities are endless. It also has rifts (durr) which are portals to other worlds that constantly connect to the main game world. Players are told to fight off anything that comes out of that rift, and eventually enter it to destroy the baddies inside. If that's not done and monsters flow out, the complete area where the rift was spawned changes drastically, and unless you fight back the rift spawn, it stays that way. If two rifts spawn next to each other, they fight against each other. I played the game demo at the convention, and it has a lot of potential.

TERA does look like fun from your description. The class/weapon lockdown doesn't bother me much at all, and in many ways makes sense. If that's the only downfall, I think it'll be awesome.

The fact that you're talking about your first MMORPG and not using the term MUD proves that you're a newfag to the genre.

>I've been playing MMOs since before they were called MMOs.
MUDs are not MMOs, but so have I. Of course, I don't do either anymore because I only did so when I was still a normal.

>If I join a clan/guild, it's because I want to progress with the in-game content, not because I want to progress with socialization. The only reason I would join a clan/guild for the people is if it was a PvP guild and they were funny/skilled/chill PvPers. Again, it's done for the game content.
When normals socialize in real life, they are doing so for their own progress. They are still normals. Going out and being a normal because it gets you a high paying job is not an excuse to say you're not a normal.

I am a true NEET, I do not work, nor am I in education or training, nor will I play a normals, like an MMO or an RPG.

Oh really? What's the difference, then?

>> No.6289012

>>6289001
UO, the game I was referring to, was the first MMO and when the use of the term started. Obviously, the difference is that the world is rendered. The literal "MMORPG" does not describe that difference, but when someone says normalfag they don't mean standard homosexual, either. The two are still for normals because of the social interaction aspect. Although your pure normal would see someone who played those things as abnormal, they're both in the same category to me.

No, you haven't. You're only saying this because you're getting called out and you just want to save face.

>Of course, I don't do either anymore because I only did so when I was still a normal.

You really think that MUDs were EVER for normals? If you aren't a troll I'll eat my fucking hat. Raw.

Can you do anything except impose assumptions on me, like that I am lying, a troll, or that I am from /b/, or that I actually have a job and a social life and I'm just fantasizing about being a true neet? You do play MMOs, you are a normal, I actually do have backing from that unlike these wild mass accusations of yours. Someone who plays a MUD definitely is a nerd as a normal would put it, but since there's social interaction there, since MMOs and MUDs revolve around social interaction in the first place, they are for normals. I also consider sitting around playing DnD an activity for normals, as do I considering "hanging out" with other perceived abnormals an activity for normals nonetheless.

Get out of here, normal. Aren't you a NEET? This board requires social interaction, therefore it's for normals. You're a normal for participating in this board, so you can't post or read here just as you can't play an MMO, otherwise you're a normal, normal.

Eat your contradiction, you mindless kid, and get out of here.

>> No.6289062

If you'll look back, you'll see that the reason I found MMOs to be for normals is because of the level of social interaction. I find this level to be more acceptable. I'm not working with anyone for a common goal, more often than not I'm just getting into arguments people because they turn sour when they get called out on not being true NEETs. As I said, the social interaction I take part in is only on this level, and I only do it because without it my intelligence would probably degrade. I couldn't forgive myself if I was too stupid to argue with a normal, for instance.

>> No.6289069

>I find this level to be more acceptable.

You're using a completely arbitrary distinction. As I've pointed out, you don't even need to participate at all with any other players in MMOs. In fact, that means that MMOs require less participation than this board. Eat your contradiction, you idiot.

>without it my intelligence would probably degrade

I wouldn't worry about that, you fucking moron. Rock-bottom is hard to degrade.

>I couldn't forgive myself if I was too stupid to argue with a normal, for instance.

Then be prepared for the unforgivable, because according to you you already are doing exactly that.

I swear, if you're not just a troll (and I'll bet you are) you must be missing most of your brain. Even if you are a troll, you're a fucking moron.
