I just stopped my first attempt at Fate/Stay Night to uninstall it after I could no longer withstand Emiya Shirou's character. I stopped a little after his (first?) date with Arturia and was absolutely fed up with his childish behavior. However, after a little reflection, I found Tohsaka's Archer, Tohsaka, and Arturia all likable characters and I enjoyed when I was able to look through the eyes of Tohsaka.

Is another go at Fate/Stay Night worth it? If I couldn't withstand this much Shirou will I really be able to take three routes of it? Will I get another chance to see through the eyes of Tohsaka and, especially, see more focus on Tohsaka's Archer?

Yes, the next route even though Rin is the heroine is less her route and more of an Archer route. Shirou also gets a bit better after that part of the Fate route.

Finally realizes he loves Arturia right at a critical point when she is just about full up of his shit. Okay great. So they go on a date. Well, he's doing okay.
But then, he acts incredibly awkward and retarded the whole time. Oh, I get it! DURR HE'S THE TYPICAL JAPANESE GUY I'M SUPPOSED TO IDENTIFY WITH THIS CLUELESS STIFF. Okay.
So Arturia pretty much thinks he's a lamer at this point, which he is. But then she finally finds something she likes. Stuffed animals! This is potential for Shirou to really pull a 180 and get her all kinds of wet as she breaks down into full girly girl mode.
And what does he do? Some retarded macho posturing shit. "Derp I can't look at stuffed animals with my fucking girlfriend right at my side or people will think I'm gay".
I just wanted to punch this retard at this point. I think everyone did. He acts like he is 15. That's Shirou for you though.

Fate was my favorite route.
And though Shirou does kind of "man up" so to speak as far as fighting and his outlook on the world go, he doesn't really act any less childish in other aspects. At the end of UBW for example when Lancer points out that Tohsaka and him are like a couple, he still reverts into grade school mode.

Fate's good by itself, I guess I just like the other ones more because they focus more on Shirou's ideal. Fate's theme felt very separate to the rest of the game.
