That's everything I have to say about any idea of Touhou anime. It would look hilarious. Touhou wasn't susposed to be turned into anime, nor will be. Good job ZUN, keep it up and don't let anyone ruin Touhou.

I'm not too sure how I'd feel about this.

What could a touhou anime be? The story would almost be completely decided on fan works, because let's face it- the stories in the games are overly simplified to take you from one boss to the next. The touhou games have good story ideas and outlines but it's a very skeletal structure and I think those pushing for an anime don't realize that. 99% of art you see is fan art, ~80% of the character backgrounds and relationships are fan made.

ZUN doesn't want to do the work to make a full length anime, and that's fine with me.

Cliches are not always bad, especially in something as short as this and lacking dialogue. Think of them as extended scenes that had to be distilled down to their most recognizable form.

Remilia's sleeping, and she has a dream where she and Flandre are being abused by what is assumedly their foster family. They eventually snap and kill most of the people in the mansion, possibly everyone except for Sakuya, who was injured. By the time Remilia sees Sakuya, she's come to her senses and realized what she (and Flandre) did, and so suffers a mental breakdown, assumedly because Sakuya would be one of the few people in the mansion to treat her and Flandre nicely. thats because toohoo sucks the way it is, and an anime would have the potential to fucking awesome. Specifically: A Summer's Day Dream. It was GLORIOUS. Animation was perfect, artstyle itself too was flawless, very unique and refreshing, voices were the best i've ever heard and really fit the characters (though Marisa's voice did take some getting used to), while the battle at the library was short, it too was really nice to watch. The story is simple, but fine for the type of anime it would probably have been, and offered enough potential as it is.

tl;dr: while your statement is true, you make it sound like a bad thing.

"Real" toohoo fans like you most likely consider yourself to be must think you're part of some secret club or something, and I think you should just grow up past such childish behaviour. You dont *have* to watch it, you know?

looked like a one-off teaser to me, so broad and just shows a lot of characters.

I liked it though. I got goosebumps. I don't know if I want a touhou anime either though...

There's only one big reason I don't want an anime.
First it'd have to be based only on one game (probably EotSD or PCB) so limited number of Touhous and high chance of fandom thrown in.
An original story involving all games would be too risky of fanon replacing canon and drive away the focus from the games.
I love fanon, I love the animations & flashes but an anime is out of the question. Also I'm still trying to recover from what DEEN did to Seacats.

Now that really looks like anime Touhou deserves to get. Battle scenes looked awesome, just look at the attention paid to Sakuya scene, and character design was very high-quality compared to Summer Days Dream.

Now just give it a good plot, say, EoSD + PCB + IN -trilogy with hints toward IaMP and bake it into 2h long feature film with pro-seiyuu and I'm satisfied.
