We were exiled from /a/. The board was not originally created as a board for otaku culture, nor was it originally intended as a board about Japan, or Japanese culture, despite the names. The board was created as a place specifically for the things that were on /a/ but were not specifically anime related: Touhou, Visual Novels, etc.

So we do our little /jp/ things over here, so why must /a/ come over here and bring there stuff here? When we want anime, we just go over to /a/. We don't need it here.

You know what happens when someone spams something that's not already spammed, touhou for an example.
More things are spammed, the new thing always does poorly in taking the old spam's place. That is why new spam is only added onto older spam, resulting in more spam.

And /a/ spam also does the job of fucking with the board borders.
If everyone spams Touhou, someone might spam more touhou, or possibly somethiong vaugly related as some silly hat or some character from something like a cave shmup.
If someone spams Japanese bird cooking spaghetti, someone might spam more bird, or some other Japanese something doing somehting.
If someone spams Bawson someone might spam more version Dawson, or possibly faces.

If someone spams /a/ however, people might start to spam more /a/, and then they become butthurt when their threads are deleted.
