Very much an opinion thing, I have no issue with them. Certainly no worse than WoW, and better than Korean Grindan #3256453626.

This is bullshit. It's not time-based at all, and it's not week-related in that way. It's based on xp earned, and the 8 hours is if you grind hard. Grind slow/fuck about and it'll be more than 8 hours. It's also on a per-class basis, and regens when you're not in that class. So fishing etc regens the xp limit. The week bit is simply a guaranteed reset each week, should you choose to always stick with one class and grind your ass off.

No, they're not. The only terrible thing about them is that crashing counts as logging off, and thus as failing. As the game gets more stable, this will become less of an issue.

Open Beta == Stress Test. They're deliberately overloading the servers to see what breaks. It's the entire point of having an open beta.

These are dumb, I agree, but far from game-breaking. Just run it windowed at your monitor's resolution.

Not really, the interface is plenty shit even with a gamepad. The biggest issue being that targeting is so shitty it's not possible to explain using words, you'll get people on the other side of the game world before you get the mob that's hitting you.

The other big issue is that it's slow as fuck, especially things like stores where it takes at the very least five seconds to even open the buy window. Most menu entries take 1-2 seconds just to open, and you often need 3 steps to do something. Something like adding a skill to your hotbar is select the slot on the hotbar, open drop down menu to find the right category, select skill, confirm that you actually want to move it to the hotbar. Compare this to most mmos where you simply drag the icon from your spellbook to the hotbar.

Every MMORPG is far worse at its launching than a few months after. Also, the biggest part of the community will grab the game with the PS3. Mark my word.

* Class exp is RANDOM, you have a chance to earn experience EACH HIT. Forget using spells or skills, use the weakest attack you have and spam it over and over for maximum xp gain.

* No mana regen, meaning you'll either have to get by with mana draining abilities and various mana recovery skills, or enjoy frequent trips to town. This might actually make it interesting at higher levels, but at low levels it just sucks since you hardly have any abilities to help manage mana, other than just using basic attacks that don't require any.

What sucks about the UI is how fucking slow it is. I don't even remember FFXI being that slow. Doing stuff like item management and crafting is painful. People have been bitching about it since alpha and its still shitty.

radeon 4890 1gb graphics card

Still I only get max 30 fps and the fps jumps constantly to 10-20 making it unplayable, wouldn't have complaints if i had even stable 30 fps but the fps jumps make it 100% unplayable for me

I found where the huge patch went, but I'm not sure where these would go. The 4.7GB patch was slightly broken so FFXIV has to patch it up - which is taking forever since the game is giving me 100kb/s+ uploads and usually 0kb/s downloads.

You DO control an MMO with a keyboard and mouse, anything else is archaic and never meant for PC. Don't even try to tell me an MMO should be using a controller over mouse/kb. I completely agree that they should be an option, but they should never be a requirement, as they are inferior input devices. Just as a kb/mouse is an inferior input combination in a flight sim because of lack of extra control and finesse, a controller is the same step down from a mouse/kb.

I could move onto the obtuse menu system that made me spend, without exaggeration, about 20 minutes selling aroun 30 items last night, but that would be beyond the point.

But hey, at least I found out I can set up macros to ACTUALLY do a real-time class-change, instead of spending a bit shy of 5 minutes navigating the terrible and laggy UI to change classes manually, the change back and re-equip all of my skills, just to access to one resource node.

I'm still playing, and trying my best to like this game.

Not to mention that FFXIV itself seems so rushed to release; the higher-ups likely wanted it out asap before Cataclysm or some other high profile release like SWTOR or GW2 hits, resulting in poor optimization (Crysis-level requirements). The plethora of problems in the beta is just further proof that things haven't been tested properly.

No doubt, everything will be fine by the time the PS3 version releases. Their brand name and the FF name will probably carry them till then.

I took two guildleves today (my second set I've been able to do now) because they both had equipment rewards.

I crashed while in the process of doing both of these, causing me to fail these quests and being unable to repeat them for another 2 days. I played for hours yesterday doing random things, loading across zones over and over, yet nothing useful to character progression, and I did this without a single DC or crash. The instant I try to do something useful, I swear someone is sitting ready to hit the "HAHA FUCK YOU" button that makes your client lock up.

This game could not be a bigger pile of shit if it was explicitly designed to be such.

Macros make a huge difference. One command in a first-level menu instead of a billion commands buried all over.

Nah it's prolly that he had 4gb in dual channel and then bought another 2x 2gb for dual channel, with windows 7 64 bit you can have like 4-6 gb and still get some benefits from it in normal use, but yeah 8 gb is overkill

It seems like Aion has LOADS of new repeatable quests in heiron each giving out 1M exp, those quests are at least total of 50M exp + the grind, fuck ffxiv the grind problem has been fixed in Aion

What chance is there that they would optimize their engine to it would run a bit better, and no my computer isn't bad, I't pretty much the same problem what age of conan had with no support for graphics cards etc.

I'm honestly not too confident they'll fix much, at least by release. Maybe they'll actually listen to complaints and fix some stuff later, but even then, with SE's track record of listening to their customers, I wouldn't be too certain. It's up to you whether or not you cancel your pre-order; personally, I canceled mine since I didn't feel like the product I saw in CB and OB reflected something I would care to pay for. In all honesty, I really wanted to like the game, but I was just disappointed by it.

I'm still playing OB, hoping to get something more out of it, though!
