1. Is there any real need for lots of social links to he high? Junpei, Mitsuru and Aegis seem like a nice party, but is this a case of Persona 3 just 'Not Working That Way'?

2. Does it get hard as all fuck? I have heard it does.

3. How long is the game?

Max ALL? Just ignore the ones you don't give a fuck about

1. Social Links, when maxed, just let you create the "Ultimate" persona of that category (lovers, death, magician, chariot, etc...) I used Akihiko, Mitsuru, and Aegis/The dog, but it really just depends on your fighting style.

2. The final boss is pretty difficult if you're underleveled. When you've grinded enough (level ~80 ish) go kill the Reaper and train in a second dungeon-like thing that opens up on the first floor. Get to level 90 and everything will be a cinch.

3. Average is 110 hours. I completed it in 80 my first time.

Higher social ranks means demons of the corresponding arcana gain more bonus exp when you fuse them. Given the rate at which personas gain levels and how quickly they become obsolete, it's definitely important if you don't want to spend forever grinding for one or two skills you want.

The game isn't too hard with proper planning, but enemies and bosses will definitely get some cheap kills on you. Some bosses will make you rage hard until you figure out a way around their tactics. Save often.

The game's fucking long. That is all.

1 and 2 together: no the game is easy, unless you do hard mode...then it's a bitch...but can still be done through massive GRINDAN. if you just wanna experience the story, i'd recommend easy. the social links are there mostly for story reasons, but they also make your personas stronger when you fuse them. also there are ultimate personas that you can only make once you maxed out a social link, but they're not needed to beat the game at all.

Hm, so i just maxed out Chihiro (the shy girl at the student conceal), where do i get my max Persona now?

Also i seem to stuck at on boss (floor 120-130 boss not sure which exactly) and he always does 250 aoe dmg do all my people. My fighters are all at lvl 40. I never got problems with beaten bosses or monsters.
Do i just need to grind the hell out of it or do i dont get the enemies weakness.

Max Personas have a level req (like all Personas).
When you are high level enough, you can fuse them in the Velvet room, usually via combining 3,4 or 5 of the Personae that belong to the same Arcana (it will tell you how may you need).

As for the boss fight, choose party members that are NOT weak to any of his attacks (if he casts Agi, do not bring Mitsuru for example), lest they die quickly.

And either Mitsuru or Yukari should be set through tactics to do 'Support/Healing' (Yukari should have Media or higher by now), while the other members focus on damage.

On lv 120/130, you should be about 45-50, I think though.

well alright, maybe I was being a bit harsh, but the game did aggravate me to no end. The huge amount of backtracking you had to do in the story was horrible, though. Also, as much as I liked the freerun ability in combat, it did make things feel a bit broken. Most enemies felt like they still were using attack patterns from ToS, with all the straight line attacks they used and whatnot, and being able to easily sidestep most of them was kind of odd.

I followed his guide for the original P3, I own FES, but I'm currently playing through The Answer... it's impossible to get some of the best gifts when for the first presentation (ie; the brand items for Yuko and Yukari) but his guide should list the second best gift. Always have a matching Persona, every meeting and every time they call you. I managed to max out all the girls links even if I didn't get the brand items.

But... how did you not give Fuuka the right gift? Unless it changed in FES, the best gift with the Glass Vase, which you can easily buy. The Brand items come on Tanaka's show, and the days they're available coincide with the Sunday meetings.

Let's assume I hate that I could be missing out on something, but I'm still OCD enough to want to be 100% at everything.

What do I miss if I decide to follow the Max Social Link guides? Are there fun events or dialog moments or festivals or shit that I'm going to have to give up because I'm too busy having my day-to-day planned by the guide?

Hard mode FES goes from "tough" to "frustrating" thanks to the XP penalty they added. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just tough, but no... every single battle clawing my way up the tower, I end up surviving by the skin of my teeth, holding my breath hoping that the sukukaja + evade whatever boots dodges one more garula (or whatever) spell. And my reward? 20XP towards the 2500 I need for the next level. Not that getting to the next level helps any, it gives 9 more HP when monsters take 100-200 per attack.

BTW, for Orpheus Kai do you have to max every single SLink on a single run, or can you use the Key Items from a previous run? I guess I'll end up finding out, I've already screwed up and forgot to talk to Chihiro, so now i'm not bothering with the walkthrough.

No. Just restart the game and follow the guide from the beginning. I'm not necessarily OCD, but I got the "fun" of the S. Links about halfway through my playthrough but I didn't want to leave the game unfinished because I was on a time limit. So, my advice is just to follow the FAQ. Fusion becomes less of a hassle and you get access to every badass Persona there is. The only thing you can really miss are the home shopping items because you'll be doing a lot of hanging out on Sunday, but you can still pick them up on Hermit or Sun days.
