ok so this is another learning japanese thread.
but what i wanna know i havent really seen asked.
ive learned the hiragana and katakana.
but i read incredibly slowly.
whats a good was to speed up my reading of hiragana?
im doing SRS and trying to read sentences.
anything else?

Shit, people will read slow into 2nd year sometimes. Combined with remembering kanji later one, you'll read slow for awhile. So long as you understand it you'll be fine.

read the face several times over

Practice, basically.

Really helpful for me was signing Japanese songs at karaoke, because it really forces you to follow the hiragana quickly.

Of course, that's not so helpful if you don't have anywhere that does Japanese karaoke near you.

...only kids do that?

fuck, I do it all the time.

There isn't anything else to it - just read and read and read and read. Find anything you can and read it. If there's anything you enjoy that you can get in just hiragana, read that. Preferably out loud. Example: every pokemon game ever.

Read Yotsuba, crazy easy to read, and actually worth reading.

>> No.601522

Might as well set up a bot to do it at this point.

YOU WA SHOCK!

so awesome.

what i do is as i learn kanji, i can recognize them while looking through ero doujins (which is about half my porn, so the reading material adds up), and it's good practice if you resist the urge to just look at the pretty pictures. hows that for an incentive to study.

for mostly kana, i downloaded the japanese versions of various castlevania games for GBA and played through them. for every monster you attack, their name pops up in the lower right corner, and that paired with occasional menu dialog helped my reading speed.

now that i think of it, this was just an attempt for me to study without the actual work, but it worked for me so maybe you can try it

What does the OP pic say?

hehenonomohe

Or something. It's true. If you don't study for a week, it slips from your mind

What do you do for vocabulary? Just read dictionaries? I learnt hiragana and katakana in a few days, and have learned a bunch of kanji and their meanings. But you know, some basic words for basic sentences.

Read things. Look up words you don't know. That is all you need to do.

If you like, you can put the things you look up into a flashcard program so you'll remember them easier.
